Emphasizing that complexity of character can arise from simple elements, this ale is made with three malts and one hop. Its light amber color and slightly spicy malt character are derived from the use of German Dark Munich Malt and Rye Malt respectively. North American 2-row barley combines with the other grains to lay the foundation for the hop onslaught to come. Summit hops are used exclusively in the boil for bitterness, flavor and aroma but it doesn't end there. Post-fermentation dry hopping allows the 10% ABV monstrosity to gently coax the citrus rind and grapefruit aroma to join the 100 IBUs already present. This beer should greet you with a pungent citrus blast, provide a spicy yet round middle and finish with a brisk, clean bitterness.

Thx! 355 ml. can sampled @ “Nog-een-half-jaar-tot-de-volgende-EBT”. Hazy orange, little head. Nose is fruits, vanilla, sweet; Taste is vanilla, popcorn, shockingly sweet, onion hops, sugar, citrus, sweet spices. Thick body. Is this how it is supposed. Feels like a mistake but I have to admit that I really did enjoy the taste. Really enjoyable for me, whatever this is.

Small to medium head over clear golden beer. Hops, fruity and citrussy, but rather fleetingly. Hint at saltiness/fish - DMS in high concentration? Sweet, spicy as in Christmas spices, with again that mineral touch. Quite slick, medium bodied. Weird! I really guess DMS.

Wonderful aroma, thick clumpy lacing. Taste is oranges and other citrus, a hint of cough syrup sweetness, with a smidge of alcohol warmth. Be careful, this one will sneak up on you.

From a can at ALEhouse, RIga. Pours hazy orange, something how imperial IPA’s should look like. Aroma is fruity, melons, a bit of skunky hops, tropical fruits. dragon-fruit? Taste is also quite sweet and very fruity. Doesn’t really reveal the high alcohol content that it actually has. Bitterness is there and it stays - but as it is well balanced with a strong body, it doesn’t really feeI too much. I started my evening with this beer, not sure how to go on as the taste is quite intense and next beers would probably taste like water... Good brew that embodies a classical American DIPA for me.

12 ounce can. Bright amber gold color. Big foamy beige head. Big citrus and pine hop aroma with a hint of butterscotch malt. Wow, a huge blast of lupilin love hits you upfront. Big and bold with notes of resiny and piney hops. There is a noticeable caramel malt backdrop here, as well. The complex hops produce a spicy tropical fruit mid taste. Finish is bitter with some noticeable alcohol. Aftertaste is intensely bitter. Outstanding!

Keg at Brewdog Shepard’s bush. Translucent golden coloured pour with a thick lasting white head. Aroma is sticky resin, dank, musty orange and some alcohol. Flavour is biscuit and caramel malts with candied orange, pine and warming alcohol. Hides the abv pretty well with just a slight bite in the finish. Palate is smooth and resinous sticky. Fairly low bitterness with a fruity orange finish. Pretty drinkable for the abv.

Can. A- Citrus, pine. A- Copper color, clear liquid, white head. T- Tropical citrus, piney, earthy, slightly bitter. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, warming finish. O- This beer was not near as bitter as one could expect. The citrus tones are subtle but balance out the beer. The finish is surprisingly warm and peppery and ultimately makes this a good sipper.
