Emphasizing that complexity of character can arise from simple elements, this ale is made with three malts and one hop. Its light amber color and slightly spicy malt character are derived from the use of German Dark Munich Malt and Rye Malt respectively. North American 2-row barley combines with the other grains to lay the foundation for the hop onslaught to come. Summit hops are used exclusively in the boil for bitterness, flavor and aroma but it doesn't end there. Post-fermentation dry hopping allows the 10% ABV monstrosity to gently coax the citrus rind and grapefruit aroma to join the 100 IBUs already present. This beer should greet you with a pungent citrus blast, provide a spicy yet round middle and finish with a brisk, clean bitterness.

Can at Marie Laveau, Stockholm, February 2012. Slightly hazy orange with a medium, fluffy white head. Very nice aroma of fruit, pine, strawberries and lemon. The taste was fruity and hoppy, sweet. The finish was long and nicely bitter. A good beer indeed.

12 oz can. Pours a clear gold amber with a white head. Very sappy pine resin aroma with grapefruit, and kind of a candied note. Flavor reinforces that, with lots of sticky pine sap, grapefruit. Sticky and juicy. Really darn good.

At a tasting, thanks David, hazy light orange colour, aroma of grass and tropical fruits, tea leaves and some pine in the back, flavour of grapefruit and pomello with some grass making it feels fresh and some maltiness behind it, pleasant strong bitterness, a bit to sweet, almost cloying, but still very good.

Bottle @ Haket on October 31. Pours apricot orange with a big with head. Smell is sweet with alcohol and very ripe mangos, apricots and mandarin oranges. Taste is sweet with pine, apricot, mandarin orange and alcohol. A bit stale, I suspect the can was atleast 1 year old.

Draft @ Barley Pub, Dover, NH. Hazy yellow in a tulip. Aroma of resin and citrus hops, caramel and rye. Big blast of bitterness up-front, followed by some alcohol warming and finishing with lots of sweet malts. This beer has a lingering bitter finish. I also pick up traces of lemon. Has a layer of complexity. I don’t drink a lot of DIPA’s (Mainly not a fan of huge bitterness) But I’m rating this on its merit. And for the style, I can enjoy it and appreciate it. The 10 % ABV wasn’t even noticed until after a few minutes after I finished it. VERY well made.

Can from Whole Foods Bowery, New York, NY. An orange coloured pour with a decent white head on top. Lovely hoppy, fruity aroma. Tastes similar, hoppy, fruity, rich, sweet, malty and sticky in that American DIPA way. Absolutely delicious, I was so sad to see this go down so quickly, surprisingly expensive for such a small can but I loved this stuff.

12 oz. can from Carlson. Pours hazy, pale orange with a big, off-white head. The aroma is caramel, apples, and pine sap. The flavor is very bitter, but well balanced with significant malts. The palate is heavy, creamy and astringent. Overall, this is a simple and well made IIPA. Not bad.

355ml can @Sadonkorjuu, Porvoo. Poured golden with a thick white head. Alcohol, sour, fruity aroma. Flavor bready, vinous, very barley wine style. Also caramel malt, tropical fruits in flavor. Quite sweet. Alcohol comes through quite a lot. Complex beer, decent.

Can. Murky tangerine-orange body, thick, puffy cream head. Dense, hoppy nose dominated by sugared grapefruit rind. The body is a familiar blend of candied citrus rind, berries, and warming alcohol, finishing bitter with prickly alcohol notes. Full-bodied and sticky but not heavy.
