Emphasizing that complexity of character can arise from simple elements, this ale is made with three malts and one hop. Its light amber color and slightly spicy malt character are derived from the use of German Dark Munich Malt and Rye Malt respectively. North American 2-row barley combines with the other grains to lay the foundation for the hop onslaught to come. Summit hops are used exclusively in the boil for bitterness, flavor and aroma but it doesn't end there. Post-fermentation dry hopping allows the 10% ABV monstrosity to gently coax the citrus rind and grapefruit aroma to join the 100 IBUs already present. This beer should greet you with a pungent citrus blast, provide a spicy yet round middle and finish with a brisk, clean bitterness.

Can at chrisoβs Pre-GBBF Shindig β11. It pours golden orange, with a thin fizzy white head and moderate carbonation. The nose is pine, resin, cheesy hop, grass and grapefruit. The taste is metal, caramel, straw, grapefruit, resin, pine, ginger and solid alcohol warmth, with a bitter-dry finish. Decent.

33 cl can @ Olutravintola Pikkulintu, canned on 08.10.2010. Thanks TBone!
Aroma has very sweet malt, some hops and glue with some artifical-like sugar. Flavour is very sweet with sugar and malts. Some hops too. Rather terrible DIPA with glue effect and totally sticky and oversweet with sugar. Never again.

Can 330ml (canned 10/2010, Pikkulintu)
Deep golden, amber color, good cloudy off-white head, lots of lace. Ryeish bready aroma with some citrus. Medium-bodied. Very bready, a bit caramelly, light citrus in the flavor. This tastes like a can which has been 9 months in the sunshine.

355ml can @ Pikkulintu, Helsinki
Pours light orange with a small sticky and foamy head. Aroma has notes of exotic fruits, hops and malts. Taste is slightly sweet and malty with notes of glue, citrus, exotic fruits and grassy hops. Long lasting, bitter and sticky finish. Alcohol burns through a bit too much. Slightly unbalanced, but enjoyable IIPA.

(Can, 0.355 l, at Pikkulintu, 20110712) The beer poured golden and quite cloudy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had hops, citricness, glue and fruitiness. Palate was medium bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were glue, hops, orange, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. Not so nice even though fruity DIPA.

if you like your imperial ipaβs citrusy, then your going to love this, summit is usually used in cooperation with warrior or simcoe to balance out the grapefruity floral flavor that hits you in the face. The analogy that best serves is the other hop varieties are sometimes like a really spicy hot sauce that makes your nose bleed, summit is like wasabe that makes you feel like your skull is breaking in half. dont know what the hell im talking about.

12 oz can from Imbibe Wines. Nose of floral, grapefruit, with hints of ivy. Lightly hazy yellow with a moderate pale yellow head. Flavor is lightly bitter with touches of grapefruit and ivy along with a mild sweet note. Wish I could get it all year!

Can at Cardinal, Stavanger. Pours a pale amber. An amazing, almost overwhelming aroma of pine, with notes of light fruit, citrus, and a touch of honey from all the malts. Quite full and sticky body. A lot is going on taste wise, but itβs a bit disappointing after the initial expectations of the aroma. There is a lot of pine here as well, together with some forresty notes of sap, cone and dewy ferns. Still the malts get a bit to the forefront with very sweet notes of fruit and vanilla, and a light alcoholic layer gets on top of that. This also sticks in the finish, which although bitter, has a caramelly touch. All in all a bit unbalanced, and to sweet.

Can, of course. Poured a dark golden color with a medium sized, solid white head. Aroma was earthy hops, strong floral notes, solid malt backing. Flavor was a piney-citrus, solid malt flavor. Alcohol is there, but certainly more deceptive than youβd expect.
