Irish red ales? Yes, we know. Sweet, a bit cloying and, well, no thanks. So, it was brave of us (we say bravely) to put the words “red ale” after our own moniker. Why the hell would we do that? Because this is a real red ale, an ale to conjure with that happens to be reddish in colour. More importantly, it’s exuberantly, joyfully fruity with a bit of malty caramel.

Weich hopfig-würziger Antrunk. Geringe, zum Mittelteil steigende Bitterkeit, geringe Karbonisierung, frisch. Langer würzig hopfiger Nachhall. Gelungen. 10/9/10/10//10

Back log entry. 330ml bottle thanks to sam. Pours out amber color topped with a sand head. Nose is caramel some grain like spice. Taste is more of the grain spiced caramel a little nutty note and some grassy hops.

05-09-17 // draft at Dingle Whiskey Bar in Dublin, Ireland. Clear deep amber red. Small head. Light bodied, light sweet malty, caramel, mild dry fruit. Mild bitter.

Keg halfpint at Mulligan’s, Dublin, as The Porterhouse Nitro Red Irish Ale. ABV is 4.2%. Deep reddish brown colour, creamy off-white to beige head. Moderate malty aroma. Medium roast malts in the fairly dry flavour, some bittering hops.

Tried in a bottle from Crafty Bottle, Lincoln. Deep Amber colour with an off white head. Aroma has light fruit and caramel malts. Medium body.

On Tap @Cimmeria, Oviedo. 26/05/17. Color ámbar con una corona de espuma blanca, aromas a cereal con notas maltosas, el sabor es a caramelo con toques herbales cuerpo medio final ligeramente amargo.

0,33l bottle at home bought from Beer Store Vienna. BB 15.09.2017. ABV 4.2%. brown / redish color, small off-white head. smells of caramel, grains, tobacco, spices, bit peppery, light ripe fruits. decent smell. light body, bubbly carbonation, decent mouthfeel. tastes grassy, tobacco, peppery, herbal, earthy, spices. finishes medium earthy bitter with notes of grain, tobacco and light herbs. quite decent one overall.

Tap @ The Porterhouse, Dublin shared with Niilstrong. Nice amber color, medium sized creamy off-white to beige head that lasts for a long time. Smell and taste malts, moderately bitter, caramel, caramel and malt bitter finish.

Good beer for the style, properly bittered (low), and has a nice caramel-like malt to take over. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone (3.5 Nov 2016) Bottle from bierkonig Amsterdam. It’s stale, otherwise would have a nice malty body.
