Irish red ales? Yes, we know. Sweet, a bit cloying and, well, no thanks. So, it was brave of us (we say bravely) to put the words “red ale” after our own moniker. Why the hell would we do that? Because this is a real red ale, an ale to conjure with that happens to be reddish in colour. More importantly, it’s exuberantly, joyfully fruity with a bit of malty caramel.

330ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours an unsurprising red with a creamy, long-lasting white head. Caramel, demerara, and floral hops on the aroma. Fruitiness comes out on the taste, with more sweetness, and a hint of bitterness. Creamy texture, medium bodied, high carbonation. Not bad, but the sweet finish puts me off getting more.

Caramel brown, clear, dense thin white head, good lacing
Aroma - Caramel malts, soft fruity malts
Taste - Caramel, soft fruits, dab of red berries, touch spicy, easy drinking, quite quaffable
Palate - Soft carb, medium body. Finish as main flavour
Overall - Not overly interesting, just an easy session pint with soft caramel malts and some fruitiness. OK

330ml bottle. Pours a clear reddish copper colour, frothy off-white head leaving alittle lacing and malty aroma with caramel & dark fruits. Taste of biscuity malt, caramel, fruity plum, berries and slight roasted notes. Smooth mouth feel, medium bodied, medium carbonation, some residual sweetness and earthy spicy bitterness through to the finish. Quite OK.

Pours a dull reddish brown. Nice, warm color. Some cloudiness. A couple fingers of off-white head. Good retention. Rich malty aroma. Lots of sweet bready malt and toasty caramel. Mild spicy hop character. Fairly simple aroma, but for a 4.4% abv beer, it’s relatively big and rich. Taste is similar. Considering the strength of the beer, there’s lots of sweet caramel malt flavor and a good undercurrent of hops in the background. Carbonation is pretty low. Just a bit of prickliness. Kinda soapy. Finish is a bit mineral-ish, and the beer mostly dries out. It’s a nice, low abv red ale with a mild hop character and rich malt. Easy to drink.

Sample at Porterhouse Central. The beer pours a clear reddish-amber color with a medium eggshell white head that dissipates steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of caramel malt and hops. Light body with flavors of earthy malt, toffee and hops. The finish is sweet with a short malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

330 ml bottle. Pours a clear red/brown with very little head. Aromas of dry cereal and grass. Flavor of toasted malt, grass/hay, sugar water, and biscuit. Slightly acidic. Not much to write home about.

Dobry Red Irish Ale. Mosna, jakby kożuchowa piana i rudawy z odcieniami krwistej czerwieni kolor. W smaku intensywnie aromatyczno gożkawy. Polecam

Bottle at friends - 27/08/12. Russet brown with a thin bubbly off-white head. Caramel, fudge and berry fruits on the nose. Taste as nose sweetish caramel being the dominant flavour. Light to medium in body, lacking somewhat, slightly watery with prickly carbonation.
