Ondineke is a classic tripel, brewed in the ancient way, again with exclusive natural ingredients: artesian water, malt (barley), hops, yeast and liquid candy sugar. As in the Saison no spices are added.
Brewed with a Styrian Golding variety called Aalster Groene Belle Monopole.

Sampled from bottle @ Van Moll Brewpub. Clear orange color, medium sized off-white head. Pretty sweet aroma with some candy in there as well. Taste malts, some wood somehow, sweetness. Good balance. Quite nice actually.

Bottle. Gold with a huge white head. High bead. Aroma of hay, oranges, glacé ginger, herbs, pepper. Mouthfeel is not as highly carbonated as it looks like it’s going to be and is quite creamy and soft. Very sweet with loads of candi sugar, peach, light oranges, vanilla. Subtle floral bitterness with some spices. Quite light bodied with just a breath of alcohol at the end to suggest its strength. Dries out, but only a little bit - and it means it’s overall a bit too sweet for me. But I guess without it the spiciness might have been a bit harsh.

750ml bottle. Slightly cloudy, orangey golden colour with average, firm, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Fruity, yeasty, and sweetish bready malty aroma, hints of peach and apricot, some yeasty spiciness. Taste is slightly dry, minimally tart, slightly sweet, grainy, fruity, hints of peach and apricot, minmally peppery, spicy yeasty overtones; soft palate, smooth carbonation. Superbly balanced, bridled sweetness - very good!

75cl bottle shared by Eddy, with Maarten - thanks! Rerate. Hazy golden, big, frothy, white head. Impressions of apple, orange, pineapple, mandarin peel, yeast. Taste has sweet apple & pineapple, zesty note, bready & honeyish maltiness. Grassy & floral hoppy finish, spicy, more citrus & yellow fruits, warming jenever-like alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Still very pleasant & balanced.

Fruchtig herber Antrunk, milde Kräuternoten. Der Alkohol ist erkennbar, stört aber nicht. Hell getreidig, die Fruchtigkeit sinkt. Milder und trocken herber Abgang. OK. 11/10/9/8/8/9

Bottle from Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Hazy, pale gold. Thick, bubbly, lasting, white head. Sultanas. Ripe orange. Light almond. Light caramel. Some grassiness. Taste is sweet. Then light dry. Fairly full bodied, kept in check by the prickly, liveliness. Yeasty, lightly tart, light bitter finish.

75 cl. bottle split with Kogymo @ ’t Antwaerps Bierhuyske in Antwerp. Bottled on June 2013. Slightly hazy orange with a creamy off-white head that lasts for a long time. Smells of candy sugar, malts & grains, fruits, light herbs & dried citrus peel. Taste is grains, alternative malts, candy sugar, touch banana, very iron-rich water, spices, toffee, dried fruit peel, touch warming. Touch higher carb. Solid tripel but misses some oomph for me but I am not the biggest fan of abbey tripel’s.

Split a 750ml bottle. Poured a golden yellow color, fluffy white head, plenty of carbonation. Aroma was hops, fruity notes, citrus notes, yeast notes. Flavor was yeast, hops, fruits. Wish it was a little more smooth. Plenty of candy sugars.

Tap at Ma Che, Roma, 22/06/13. Hazed golden with a decent white head that retains well. Nose carries woody notes, malt, cereals, fruits, booze. Taste comprises yeast esters, sour notes, candied sugars, dark fruits, toffee, bread dough, light spice. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation. Ok tripel but the booze stood out a little too much in a slightly harsh/unrefined way.
