02/09/2016 - 33cl bottle @ a restaurant in Ghent. Darlk copper with rocky light tanned head. Nose is dark malts, caramel, fruits, same for taste. Strange for an amber ale but it wasn’t bad.

Sampled from tap at the brewpub. Clear, dark brownish amber with a dark beige head. Sweetish-malty aroma of caramel, nuts and some brown sugar. Sweetish-malty, minimally roasty taste of caramel, nuts, a bit of chocolate and some brown sugar, followed by a short, slightly bitter and a bit roasty finish. Medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Okay!

330 ml bottle. Clear amber body with a medium sized tan head. Aroma reminds me a lot about this typical smell I get from malt extract brewing kit. Can’t really put my finger on it, it’s just something with malt, caramel and yeast that smells a bit unfinished somehow. Flavor is sweet malt, toast, red apples and low bitterness. Medium body and a bit fruity in aftertaste. Quite plain. I’m aware it’s brewed with gruut and that could be unusually and challenging, but I still think there should be a reason for doing such thing that has some more interesting flavor as aa result. Still want to try other beers from this brewery if available.

Tasting set on draft at the brewery. Amber a deeper more opaque brown than the Brown with a bready plum pudding aroma. The taste is rich bready, spicy with a full mouthfeel. Really nice and easy drinking somewhat dubbel like.
