Catch up rating from notes, 2012: Bottle picked up in Bruge. Poured into a tulip, lightly hazed golden body with a big, thick, creamy head. Aroma is sweet and grassy, Belgian yeast notes, slight savory scent as well. Taste brings the buttery malts and yeast, light fruit sweetness and a gentle hop presence. Feels great, thick and slippery, without being too boozy. Well done tripel.

Sampled from a 750 ml corked brown bottle this beer poured an orange-amber color with a huge fluffy soapy orange-white head that lingered and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was sweet and tangy orange, pear, bread and honey. The flavor was sweet and tangy table sugar, candied pears, orange, bread, honey, pepper and a had a faint medicinal undertone. The finish was medium length tang honey, sugar, pear, orange and bread. Moderately full bodied. Solid.

Bottle. Clear gold with a puffy white head. Herbal aroma with orange and sugary dough. Sweet and boozy with oranges and candi sugar before distinct bitterness. Some slight oxidised / fortified wine notes that fit well enough. Fruity and slightly herbal finish. No great intrigue in this one, but cheerful and with enough bitterness to stop it from being tiring.

On tap at Apex, pours a clear yellow with a small white head. Aroma of dry green apples / pears, yeast and some candied sugar. Flavour of semi-sweet, but dry green apples, some candied sugar and Belgian yeas.t Pretty simplistic tripel.

$8.99 for a 750 ml bottle @ my local Market Basket. Cellared since Feb 2011. Clear yellow color. Light head retention. Apples and sweet malt aroma with some spices. Light touches of clove as well. Similar flavors but…. It’s not really getting me excited here. Thinner body with lots of lively co2. Champagne- like dryness in the finish. Goes down easy due to the thin body. This was a letdown. No problems but it just didn’t do it for me.
