Bottle, at the March 2025 DCBeer share. Thanks nimbeprop! Poured a muddy brown color, I think I got some sediment in this one. Aroma was kind of a wet, oxidized malt. Flavor was sweet, flavors fell out of this one. Interesting for a 2008 beer. Oxidation, sweet, but not terribly sweet.

Bottle. Blonde, hazy. Yeast, cabbage and citrus in the aroma. Flowery hops, yeast, traubenzucker and citrus in the flavor. Drinkable, nothing special.

Dark brown, small beige head, good lacing. Aroma is of brown sugar, some chocolate and roasted notes, spicy and yeast. Taste is medium sweet chocolate, brown sugar, bit roasted, some Belgian yeast and spicy notes, all in all rather light and inoffensive. Medium bodied, watery, soft carbonation. (on tap, Gainsbar, Kortrijk)

Dark brown colour, beige foam. Medium carbonation. Rather sweet caramel flavour with light spicy notes. Light roastiness. Sweet, light bitter finish. Ok.

33cl bottle from Bierboom, Brugge. Thick creamy off white head. Clear deep burgundy pour. A nice enough beer but a bit too sweet.

Gulden Spoor’s first, when they were still named Brouwkot. A bottle of 75 cl releasing a misty peach blonde beer with ochre hue and snow white, sticky, thick foam. Aroma gently fruity, peach, orange, pineapple, honey, grass, white bread; soft fruity taste with light citrussy freshness, honeyish malt sweetishness and mild floral hop bitterishness in the finish. Okay but not too exciting. Apparently this original blonde version has been revised to a dark beer meanwhile - I suggest we make two separate entries then!

Beer two in a 0.2 litre glass, part of a five glass flight at La Trappist, Brugge on 30th Jan 2014. Dark brown body with a fast fading white head. Fairly sweet nose and taste, caramel and fruitiness lead the way with a toffee coating for good measure. The yeast kicks in mid-sip, but this is a beer my sweet tooth like, for others it might not work so well, especially the hop bomb guys. Medium bodied and for me a very pleasant second beer within the litre flight.
