0.75l bottle that ogivlado shared with me, heavy and TImE. Poured a lovely hazy dark amberish red with a thick off white head. Malty honeyish malt in the nose. Sweet maltiness is obviously the biggest taste here, but the taste, as was the nose comes off as nicely balanced, not cloying and not over the top, a slightly creamy mouthfeel, some herbal and bready notes. Nice stuff.

Chestnut brown with a lasting tan head. Aroma of dried fruits, licorice, spices and something minerally, like wet granite. The complexity is not unlike a dark saison. Sweetish fruity flavour with a lot of plum. Caramel malty sweetness too.

A dark reddish brown ale with a thick light moka head. A very woody aroma, scotch barrel, dark fruits, herbaceous matter. In mouth, a smooth scotch ale with light treacle, candy sugar, herbaceous, warming alcohol. Bieropholie import, tasted Feb. 13, 2010.

clear brown, light brown head. caramel, cinnamon, faint hops in the aroma, also some dark fruits. flavor is sweet dark fruits, nuts, brown sugar, faint sourness, raisins, a sweet, malty deal, spiced up, but some fruity flavors do generate a little balance.

750 ml bottle. Spicy, fruity, vegetal aroma. Lots of old celery. Rich malt that is a first quite layered and lovely but quickly vanishes away into caronated vegetable juice. Cookie and bread in the middle palate, somewhat like a good bock. But far too heavily carbonated; watery, terrible body. Stink-ass and vegetal. This doesn’t seem like the same beer I’ve read about. A huge disappointment, especially next to the aged stilton we paired it with. A bad batch?

750 ml bottle from Country Club Liquors. Was a gusher even though I barely lifted the cap and slowly released the pressure. After my experience with the Ondineke Oilsjtersen Tripel and several raters reporting explosive uncappings I was very careful. Nose of toffee, molasses, and yeasty spices. Cloudy dark brown with a huge but quick dissipating tan head. Flavor was slightly sweet, lightly bitter, caramel, toffee, and molasses. Once the head disipates it’s a fairly flat beer.

750ml bottle. Deep orange-brown color. Sweet, deep malty aroma. Slightly pungent brown sugar taste. Very rich with an almost boozy touch. Smooth and creamy on the palate, with an undeniable potency. Thick foamy head. Quality Belgian Scotch Ale.
