Sampled at Zythos 2009. Or capstan full strength as I called it. Cloudy, brown/ruby, thin beige head. Some good dark fruits, ruby fruits, decent sting on the finish. Nice fruits, decent winter beer.

Explosive head transforms to flat and bubbleless. Muddy turbid brown. Toffee flavor with a bit of caramel. Nice flavor, needs more complexity, perhaps by laying down for a year.

courtesy of our cellar god cigarcitybrew. Pours a hazy brown with tan head. Aroma of dark cherries, candi sugar. A fine recipe for another excellent Belgian Christmas brew. Taste is the same as aroma with malts coming more forward. Generally cannot go wrong with a well executed beer. Has the right components, dark fruits, dark candi, the malts that make this one a good Scotch Ale.

750 mL bottle, bottled 23 September 2006. from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville. Murky reddish brown color with a medium head, decent retention and poor lacing. Malty aroma with notes of butterscotch and sour cherry. Taste is caramel, butterscotch, dark fruits and a pear like fruity finish. Milky feel.

Bottle courtesy of Secret Santa: Poured a deep brown color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma consists of fruity sweet ester with some dry fruits and some candi sugar. Taste is also a very nice mix between some dry fruits such as figs and raisins as wall as sweet fruity ester that are totally perfect for the style. Full body with limited filtration with some perfect carbonation and no discernable alcohol. Very complex but easily drinkable at the same time, definitely a beer that I would like to have access to regularly.

Bottled. Hazy dark brown, small beige head. Caramelly malt dominatet he nose. Sweeting with soothing cottony soft mouthfeel. Slimmer than expected but still full of toffee and with cranberry tartness. The finish holds some spun sugar but no bitterness. Mild, yet flavourful with no edges whatsoever. Both interesting and enjoyable.

Pours amber with big tan head. Smokey aroma with some caramel. Sweet and slightly smokey flavor with sweet maltiness and brown sugar and dark fruits with a barely noticable taste of alcohol. Quite peppery. Medium body with lots of carbonation and a sticky mouthfeel.
