Our style of brewing has always been about taking chances. It’s an extension of our “What if” mentality, wherein we ask ourselves what would happen if we did things differently in the brewhouse, such as fermenting with a different strain of yeast or, in the case of this beer, incorporating whole-leaf green tea imported from Japan. The answer, embodied in this IPA when we first released it in 2011, was something truly magnificent, delicious and well worth brewing again. But what if we changed it up a bit? This time around, we exchanged Pacifica hops from New Zealand for Helga hops from Australia. The result is an IPA that’s as bright, herbaceous and bitingly hoppy as the one that’s had our fans requesting its return ever since its depletion from store shelves, but with a modern, hop-driven twist that makes this second draft unique and tasty in its own right.

0,355 l can. Pours deep golden with slightly hazy with small, quickly dissipating white head. Aroma is heavy malt, some fruity and herbal hop notes, light tea. Sweet and a bit of alcohol too. Taste is heavy sweet and medium bitter. Body is full, carbonation subtle, mouthfeel oily. Finish is long, sweetness and bitterness slowly fade and then alcohol warmth kicks in.

Tap at Cat&Barrel, Vejle. Pours clear amber with small white head. Aroma is mostly malt and grapefruit and faint hints of tea (perhaps only because I am expecting it?). Taste is medium sweet, medium bitter and light acidic. Body is oily with soft carbonation. Finish is medium long and mostly bitter with notes of malt, grapefruit, bitter finish from green tea and hints of spice. Fairly heavy on the alcohol. A bit disappointing.

0.355 l can from 'Craftbeershop.com', 10.1% abv, canned in February 2022. Clear, amber with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, white head. Sweetish, rather herbal-spicy, gently fruity-resiny aroma of tea leaves, black pepper, alcohol, pine, mango and orange jam. Gently sweet, malty, rather herbal-spicy, boozy and quite fruity-resiny taste of mango, orange jam, tea leaves, black pepper, ginger, alcohol and pine, followed by a medium long, quite bitter, boozy and herbal-spicy finish. Medium to full body, smooth and gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Interesting beer but unfortunately too boozy, the alcohol kills the aromas. Luckily quite malty and hoppy, otherwise it would just be a booze bomb.

0.355 l can from Spicy Days Webshop. Shared with Habas. Lightly hoppy herbal, green tea, jasmine, mint. Soft grainy touch in the back. Medium body, sweet, mint chocolate for some reason. Alcohol quite nicely hidden. Sweetness, herbal bitterness, medium body. Quite drinkable. Light bitterness.

Draft. A hazy dark golden beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of citrus fruits, tea, hops, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of citrus fruits, tea, spices, hops, caramel, and malt, leading to a bitter finish. OK; but probably better without the tea.

Can. Color: Slightly hazy golden, white head. Aroma: Very hoppy, herbal. Taste: Very hoppy and bitter. Floral and herbal / bit spicy notes of the Green Tea leaves. Dry mouthfeel. Over medium bitterness at very dry finish. Light sweetness. Boozy hints. Subtle citrus fruit. Medium body, average carbonation. Great IPA for 'old-fashioned' bitter IPA lovers like me. Very nice.
