The Professor Amber Lager is a commemorative brew, named after and stemming from, a partially created recipe found in past FBC Brewmaster Gord Demaniuk’s recipe book. Aptly, this brew launched almost to the day that Jeff Demaniuk, FBC’s now Head Brewer, was announced to be filling the large rubber boots of his late father, Gord Demaniuk.
The name? With Gord being a huge fan of Breaking Bad, at home in the FBC lab, and invariably turning up for work in some sort of dress up, it was a great fit, for a great brew and a great guy
A rich, malty Amber Lager, with European hops. Rich, toasted and caramel malts, with a hint of noble hop flavour. An easy-drinking malty Lager, that Brewmaster Gord would have loved!

473ml can. Pours a clear amber-copper with a medium, foamy, short lived, beige head that laces. Mild, sweet aroma of toasted caramel malt, red apple and floral hops. Sweet flavour of bready caramel malt, toffee and floral hops in a dry, mild bitter finish. Light to medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Malt forward and enjoyable to drink.

Can. Gentle malts, light caramel sweetness. Good balance. Light bitterness. Decent, not the most lagery lager, but still good beer.

On tap at Parallel 49, pours a clear chestnut amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted nuts, bready malt and a little toasted caramel. Flavour is along the same lines, with toasted nuts and bready malt. Light sweetness in there. Reasonably done.
