Oh…The Doppelbock! The beer brewed simply due to my love for the winter season. I missed a proper pairing with winter dishes so badly that I told myself that this is a must. This is the beer you pop when sitting in front of a fireplace reading a good book, coming home after a chilly day.
There are many bocks available on the market during the season, yet there are so very few adequately attenuated. Most are quite sweet, and even though it is part of the beer style and culture, something is missing.
This is the type of beer that you pour only once because it is just all you need and the kind that will last you an entire evening due to its heaviness and profound flavor. The beer you don’t merely drink, but sip and enjoy.
This beautiful beer has a high amount of malt and darkness that you could consider it a hybrid between bock and stout.

0.33 l bottle from 'Speciaalbierpakket.nl', bottled in August 2018. Clear very dark ruby to black with a thin, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty and a bit fruity aroma of caramel, chocolate, toasted nuts and some dark fruits. Quite sweet, malty, moderately roasty and slightly fruity taste of caramel, chocolate, cocoa, toasted nuts and some dark fruits, followed by a long, rather roasty-bitter, gently boozy finish. Medium to full body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft to average. Weird stuff, pretty unusual for a Doppelbock, way too heavy on the chocolate flavours.
