Single malt and single hop. This brew blends the old and the new. Hunter malt, a historic pale malt traditionally used in Guinness, has not been commercially cultivated since the 1950's. Minch Malting company, in collaboration with the Irish department of agriculture have initiated a scheme to resurrect bygone Irish varieties of Barley. Hunter is one of the first verities to be made available to brewers and we here at the Porterhouse are delighted to be one of the first to brew with this barley in over half a century. The hop selection for this beer is a thoroughly modern affair. Hallertau Blanc was released to the world in 2012. Hallertau Blanc’s flavor profile is fruity, with wine-like qualities of gooseberry
and grass, similar to that of Sauvignon Blanc. It also features a complex aroma
profile with notes grapes, grapefruit and lemongrass.
