Notes from June 2009 On tap at the brewpub. Poured into a 10-12oz stemmed short flute. Pours out cloudy & turbulent. Quite a few of the beers seems unsettled(I saw someone changing out kegs an hour before the place opened). The color was a rusty mud. Off-white wisp of head. Scents of melon, bark, musk & some light spicing. It smelled really good, & I was awaiting something that tasted equally as great. The aroma was the better of the two though, leading up to a good bit of disappointment. Earthy, just a sharp flash of malt right at the beginning, bright bitter greens, grainy wheat-ish texture, & then dry. Very dry middle to end. It tasted like the bottom completely fermented out. I didn't get much of anything pleasant after half a second from the start. No real farmhouse elements past the smell. That & I guess the color didn't correspond to what I was drinking. I would of felt better of it if it was a lighter amber I was looking at. I drank my serving & quickly went back to the chalkboard for something else. Everyone else there seemed to think it was okay, maybe something else was on my mind at the time. ...

Certainly looks like the style or an Alvinne. Yeasty nose with hints of spices and caramel. Sweet flavor with caramel, roasted malt, spices and yeasty notes. Finished sweet. Rather sweet for the style.

Bottled. A murky dark golden beer with a huge orangey head. The aroma has notes of dusty hops, malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, spices, coconuts, caramel, wood, leading to a dry and tart finish. Weird.

750 ml-pours a retaining thin off white head and cloudy orange/amber color. Aroma is yeast, herbal/grass, light/medium malt-hint brown sugar. Taste is yeast/barn, herbal/grass, light/medium malt-hint brown sugar/some cinnamon? Dry, good effervescence. Occasional. Thanks Boamr for sharing.

Bottle thanks to ericandersnavy. Pours with a large bone colored head over a muddy amber body. Aroma is butter, cinnamon, pastries, alcohol and apple pie. Really nice. Taste is a bit sour with some green apple, and caramel. Doesn’t live up to the aroma. Fizzy.

Goblet pour @ the brewpub. Color us a very red and pink hued brown, thick, cannot see through it yet it radiates just a little bit. This was an interesting beer, not sure what kind of yeast did all this. The aroma is like cheery pie crust and cola mixed together. A weird combination of malts and yeast, cool and different. It is similar in flavor but is a bit muffled by the strong carbonation. However, the carbonation helps offset the thicker mouthfeel, this juxtaposition adds nicely to the original structure of the beer. The flavor get s a bit earthy vegetable (in a good way) as well. I would be interested to see this recipe.
