Pours dark brown with red/dark amber tints and a small head. Too dark to see through, even in direct light. One can see, on the light, that it is a clear beer but still cannot see through the beer. Aroma starts with a very breezy/airy smokiness, which seems to hide the imperfections in the beer that come with the flavor. In the flavor it is mineral, leafy and kind of empty with a surrounding light smoke. I like rauch beer but this could have been done better. A light beer with a light bitterness at the end of the flavor. I just keep drinking the grolwer and nothing new or special comes out of it, just a cheap bock flavor.
Growler from brewpub poured into St. Paul cross between snifter/tulip glass.

Dark brown beer, with a two-finger off-white head - aroma of beechwood smoke, some soft cocoa and light dark lager fruitiness - smooth, creamy mouthfeel - surprisingly bitter (not IPA bitter or anything), and a bit more dry than most bocks, kind of along the lines of schlenkerla urbock - some notes of chocolate, light nuttiness - the smoke doesn’t come to the fore all that much (but it must for those unfamiliar with smoked beers, because the guy next to me thought it tasted "like bacon" - it does not), but is still fairly present - not as complex or tasty as the best of the style, but tasty none-the-less - smooth, and perhaps a bit too drinkable for the abv - I could drink this all day, I’d just like to taste more of the smoked malt - it’s beers like this that remind me why I keep coming to this place.
