Bottle. Smells slightly of hops but has a good caramel malt smell. Nice amber color. This is the best American made Oktoberfest beer on the market. For those who like Marzen type beers you will love this one.

Location: 12 oz Bottle from Norm’s, Sept ’08

Overall Impression: I enjoyed this one, had a great nose, some malty caramel flavors, and a solid taste that makes you feel like autumn.

12oz bottle-pours a dissipating tan head and amber color. Aroma is musty medium malt, some fruit/spice hops. Taste is musty medium malt-caramel, biting/somewhat aggressive spice hops.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark ruby-caramel color with a small khaki head that faded quickly. The aroma was tangy, sweet and malty with a hint of nut. The flavor was sour, tangy, malty, fruity and a bit vegetal.

12 oz. bottle from Sam’s Quik Shop. Clear reddish pour with a pencil thin head that quickly fades. Very malty aroma with some caramel apple notes. Taste is caramel, yogurt covered raisins (yeah, weird, i know) and some subtle hops. Medium bodied.

Bottle Pours out a clear amber topped with a white head. Aroam of malts and light spice. Tast more of the spice and malts. Not a bad Octoberfest brew.

Hazy amber-copper body, thin off-white head. Toasty, caramely nose with an earthy hops balance. Cerealy body, sweet, with toast and earthy, grassy hops. A hint of alcohol on the tongue. So beautifully average.

Very nice ruby/amber coloured body with a perfect sized tan head. A few bubbles rise from the bottom, but nothing amazing - still a good beer from this brewery - in looks at least. Aroma of fresh grassy hops, nice caramel malt, nuts and some light spices. Medium-bodied; Sharp taste of caramel malt up front fading to a very light hoppy flavour covered up by a potent yet understated metallic twang. Aftertaste shows the malt and light hops more afterwards, leaving some bittering in the palate. Overall, a decent marzen - nothing special, but the looks and immediate tastes are pretty nice. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 11-November-2007.
