It might get its name from the light phenomenon typically seen in the upper latitudes of North America, but this aggressively hopped IPA takes inspiration from the IPAs of the Pacific Northwest and the hops of the Yakima Valley.

Shaker pint draft at Harbour Lights in Lawrence, Kansas. The pour is a clear amber, with a one inch white head that leaves behind nice lace. The aroma is floral, citrus, and caramel malt. The taste is a nice balance between the floral and citrus hops and the caramel soft sweet malt backbone. The bitterness carries the dry finish. The palate is medium bodied, active carbonation, and the dry bitter finish. Easy drinking West Coast IPA.

On tap at Free State, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out soft earthy hops and dry biscuity malt. Flavour is piney in the hop department, with a touch of grass and crisp biscuity malt. Piney and crisp. Good stuff.

Draft at the brewpub. Dark caramel-apple color with a thick long lasting head that never fades. Aroma is very sticky and sweet sugar. As it warms some icky, wicky hop oils come out. Flavor is bitter and sweet malts with leafy bitter hops. Not to my tastes of hop and malt mix, did not enjoy too much.

Growler @ Exira Beer Summit III. Thanks jcnielsen (Jetson)! Pours a clear dark orange appearance with a tan head. Super spicy, a bit resiny, light citrusy, piney hoppy aroma. A bit chewy caramel malty, lightly floral, very spicy hoppy flavor. Easy to drink. A pleasure. Thanks Jetson!
