Imperial nonic pint at the brewpub. This was the beer of the day. Comes to me very cloudy with a super golden amber color with a frothy head that leaves a medium thick lacing as it fades. Its a nice looking beer, I am guessing purposefully cloudy and that looks cool. The aroma is very neutral on the yeast and malts but surprisingly its pretty mild on the hops as well. In conflict with the beer’s description the hops are not bright and actually pretty muted. I get some light bitter grass. Flavor is very much the same, its like a dead fish of a beer. Mild and generic American hop flavor, no bitterness, no esters, no malt character. On the plus side, I do like the mouthfeel of the beer, thicker and softer yet has a sprinkley finish. This had the makes of a great little session hop beer but the hops never came through in the end.
