We brew this beer with 100% applewood smoked wheat to drink during brew days. Small so we can drink all day, but alluring enough to hold our attention. The only problem is no one makes applewood smoked wheat malt so we have to smoke it ourselves...which lengthens our brew day...so we need more beer. It's a vicious cycle of fragrant hops punctuating sweet, ephemeral applewood smoke. And if you don't want to drink it, fine. We'll drink it all ourselves.
Malts: Applewood Smoked Wheat
Hops: Simcoe, Sorachi Ace

On tap at the brewery. Pours a hazy light straw yellow with a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a nice smoke note with earthy wheat and a bit of sweetness underlying. Flavor has a nice smoke note with a bit of a tobacco note with some earthy grains and straw supporting.

Draft at Churchkey. Poured a bright, light yellow color with a huge fluffy white head. Aroma was light smoked meat aroma. Liquid smoke bbq. Light apple, light malts, crispness. Actually kind of good for a style I don't normally like.

A hazed golden ale with a thin white head. In aroma, light peated notes, light acidity, very nice and complex. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity malt with peated notes, light acidity, very nice. On tap at brewery.

12oz bottle. Hazy yellow body. Massive foamy white head. Smooth, easy, medium bodied. Mild but present smoke tones, sort of sweeter than normal...applewood. Cool style. Solidly executed. Very clean and light.

Sample at Proletariat. Cloudy yellow color with a medium white head that recedes steadily. Strings of lacing. Smokey aroma with hops and malt notes. Light-bodied with flavors of smoked malt, fruit, oak and wheat. The finish is smokey and fruity with a subtle hoppy aftertaste. Decent overall.

Farmhouse, Chicago tap: pours yellow with a white head. Aroma is quite smoky in the same way as those beers from Bamberg. Taste is a hefty bit of smoke along with some light apice and a good bit of minerals. Smoke is mostly at the front, but then is marginally smoky at the end.

Imperial pint ($6) at Owen & Engine. Thick dull golden appearance, cannot see through it. Aroma is nicely smoked (medium-strong). Low esters, fortunately low hops. Thicker mouthfeel makes this a light yet hefty brew. Flavor is more smoke and low ester wheat. 20oz is the way to drink this beer.
