Sampled on draft at GTMW 2011. I had never had a Free State beer before so I asked the brewery rep pouring to pick one for me, and this I got. He made a good choice. Pours a hazy copper color with almost no head. Aroma of cherries, toffee, citrus and earthy notes. The taste is cherries, toffee and brown sugar. Full bodied. Nice sipping beer.

Snifter pour at the brewpub. I was surprised to see this on tap during the July 4th weekend. The beer was quite well done, usually I find that FS rushes their Belgians to the taps but whenever there is some treatment, it seems to make things better. The quad was not hot, it was well conditioned, sweet, strong Belgian sweetness but not syrupiness. The cherries provided a sweet, slightly tart angel to everything. They were apparent but neither a great addition or a disadvantage. Drank real easy, not hot on the throat.
