Careful now! Not quite our secret weapon, but a very discreet one. Stylish, strong, seductive. And it needs to be handled with care. We mentioned strong? Well, yes, it weighs in at a hefty 6.5% ABV so it’s not exactly a session ale; this is not a pint of mild. But it’s like a V12 engine in a sleek body - it handles well if treated with respect. Hops: Galena, Nugget, East Kent Goldings.

Bottle at 6.5% ABV. Foggy bronze colour. One finger tall head of beige colour and decent lacing. Aroma: caramel, esters, nuts, toast. Modest intensity. Medium body. Taste: light sweet. Evident caramel, estery, bitter enough. Nuts and hops in ending. Hoppy aftertaste. A quality brew.

Süßlicher, hell malziger Beginn. Alkoholische Noten im Mittelteil, feine Karbonisierung, Karamell. Leicht herb, langer Nachhall. Okay. 9/8/9/9//9

Tap @ The Porterhouse, Dublin shared with Niilstrong. Clear amber color, average sized off-white to beige head. Smell and taste malts, herbal hops, slightly medicinal, a bit sweet. Decent body and carbonation. Hmm not my kind of beer.

Overly bitter unfortunately. Not advertised as an ipa on their menu in London, but it is, and lacking malt to back it up. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Plums, sweet caramel. Taste is intensely sweetish-fruity, with a heavy bitter touch, feels boozy. Only 6.5ABV? incredible. A real taste explosion. Crazy stuff, but maybe someone appreciates it.

Clear amber brown colour, average frothy off-white head, diminishes slowly, good lacing. Complex aroma, dark malts, dark fruits, caramel, liquorice, light roasted, cocoa, hint of citrus. Taste medium sweet and bitter, chocolate, roasty. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, aftertaste full bitter, sweet notes, roasted, spicy notes, chocolate in the finish, good.

Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 9E, adapted). Bottle 33 cl - Batch unknown. AROMA: sweet malty aroma with notes of dried fruits, roasted malt, dried grapes and a slight whiskey barrel and caramelized malt aspect. APPEARANCE: reddish copper color with orange highlights and translucent. medium dark beige head with medium retention. TASTE: initial sweet malty flavour, with some notes of dried fruits and whiskey barrel that evolves into a roasted and highly bitter finish. High bitterness from hops and roasted malt that lasts beyond a dry finish. PALATE: medium-low body with medium-low carbonation. finish almost astringent. OVERALL: and interesting strong ale with a bit too much roasted flavour.
