Aroma of citruc hops, mixed with lots of wood. Big woodsy flavors and aromas, like sniffing a plank of spruce or pine, but with touches of vanilla, and dried dark fruits. The body was a little viscous, and finished not as bitter as i had expected. A great sipping beer, well worth it if you can find it.

From bottle @ BBF 2010. Dark amber color. Dried fruit, loads of hops and some peaty notes in the aroma. Grassy huge hoppy flavor with dried tropical fruit. Peaty flavors coming up in the aftertaste. Great beer!

bottle. Deep dark golden, small head. Brown sugar, coffee, toffee and bitter chocolate, not as bitter as expected, but quite dry.

Bottle: Cloudy, deep chestnut-amber coloured, big beaten-egg-white-like off-white head, sweetish leathery nose with distinctive traces of dried black berries and a "medical" touch; moderate to solid sweet-bitter flavour, full bodied; sherry notes in the sweet toasty and caramelly finish, that is followed by a solid bitterness in the aftertaste. Well balanced heavy brew, but where are the 1000 IBU’s…

Bottle at Mikkeller Bar, November 2012. A bit hazy dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma and taste of licorice, whisky, chocolate, some earth and fruit. Smooth mouth feel. A tasty one with a bitter finish.

Clear brown colour, reddish hue, beige head. Malty aroma, wood and vanilla, caramel and subdued fruity hop notes. Madeira sweet flavour, malts, dark chocolate, caramel and coffee. Finish chocolate, coffee, light sour notes, caramel, and quite a bitter finish.
The hops bitterness seems to be quite mellowed by the barrel aging, but still a nice beer in it’s own right.
