Brewed only once each year to coincide with the Hop Harvest in Yakima Washington, High Tide IPA is made with 180 lbs of Fresh Hops per batch that are plucked from the vines and sent straight to our brewery. We skip the whole drying and processing stage which means the hops are ultra fresh and full of flavors we can’t normally get. Like grapes, Hops are only harvested one time each year and as such, we make what we can when we get them.

Picked up this 22oz while on vacation. Date was a few months old, noticed a few days after purchase - oh well. Poured a hazy orange color with a nice fluffy white head. Aroma is mild pine notes - probably a bit mellowed from when it was fresh. Flavor was nice pine notes, with some sweet malt backing. Enjoyable.

Bottle. Hazy orange/light amber liquid with firm, medium off-white head. Aroma is sweetly hoppy with notes of citrus, grapefruit, grass, lemon grass, tangerine, mango and sweet malt. Taste is quite dry and medium to high bitter with notes of citrus, tangerine and grapefruit. The bitterness sticks around for a long time, almost too long. Medium bodied with an appropriate amount of carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel. Above average IPA with lots of citrus action going on. Nice.

65 cl bottle @ O’Hara’s Freehouse. Rated on 24.02.2011
Aroma is surprisingly light with some hops, biscuits and resin. Flavour has rather nice, very bitter hops with exotic fruits and resin. Good IPA that lacks the sweetness american IPAs usually have.

Bottle, thanks to Leighton at his pre-xmas extravaganza. It pours hazy golden yellow, with a thick white head. The nose is fresh hop, floral, juicy orange citrus, grass and leaf. The taste is hay, straw, pine, resin, floral, green hop. grass, leaf, dough and alcohol warmth, with a long bitter finish. Medium body, moderate-high carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Nice, but the alcohol is a bit too obvious.

660ml bottle from Bierkompass
Pours yellowish orange with a medium foamy head. ARoma has notes of fruits, exotic hops, yeast and malts. Taste is slightly malty with notes of exotic fruits, hops and grass. Finish is bitter and fruity. Nice, but slightly light IPA.

Bottle at home in London. Pours a lightly hazy gold with a fine, white foam. Delicate hop aroma, fine pine and grass, pithy citrus. Nice flavor, medium sweet, toasted grass, light grapefruit. Medium bodied with high carbonation. Faintly dry finish, citrus rind and pith, short duration, light toasty straw. Good stuff. Restrained and fine.

Fairly disappointing really. +++ Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy yellow color with an incredibly huge foamy yellow-white head that lingered forever and left incredible lacing. The aroma was sour vague fruit and piney hops with notes of resin and a touch of skunk and undertones of yeast and catbox. The flavor was tangy and tart lemon, pine and floral hops with a bit of perfume underneath. The finish was long and dry with floral and perfumey hops lingering. Medium body. Ok.

Sampled @ SBWF on September 29. Pours hazy yellow with a small white head. Smell is incredibly fresh and fruity with mango, kiwi, citrus fruits and grass. There’s also a nice sweetness from the malts. Taste is fresh and bitter and as with the smell it’s loaded with fresh tropical fruits. Very good!
