Delightful dubbel, semidry and fruity with a bitter floral undertone and a yeasty, boisterous finish. Always nice to revisit a stalwart classic of a style; Belgian imports aren't the hottest commodity these days, but damned if they don't eschew the syrupy sweetness that haunts most American representations. Notes of cherry, fig, and banana lace the periphery, but the finish never grows cloy, instead gaining a woody firmness accented by traditional Belgian carbonation. Pours a ruddy, snowy brown with a lingering off-white head and decent lacing. Nose is candi sugar, apple, and toffee. Very drinkable.

330ml bottle. Pours a murky orange-brown with yeast particles floating around and a medium, foamy, long lasting, beige head that leaves curtains of lace. Aroma of caramel malt, Belgian yeast, plum, prune and yeast. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, plum, prune, raisin, brown sugar, spice, faint banana and Belgian yeast with a dry, slightly bitter finish. Light to medium body with a thin texture and soft carbonation. Not bad. The ABV is well hidden, making this easy to drink.

Rerate based on checklist, old score : 7/5/7/4/14=3,7 Smell -weak to medium-strong, malt, yeast, caramel, roast. Foam - thin, large in mouth, yeast, malt, Belgian notes and bit of roast, some caramel. The head is large, light brown, cream white color. Not sticky. Appearance - unique cap for beer and somewhat interesting bottle design. Dark brown, red color, not fully black, but seems to be hazy so cant see-through, medium carbonation. From - snifter Taste - acidic notes, malt, yeast, faint Belgian notes, caramel.Bit of bitterness in the background and some hops. Good. Quick rerate: 6/4/7/4/14=3.5

33cl bottle from Tosano. Brownish color, light haze, big expansive yellowish head, persistent. Aroma mostly of candy sugar, chestnuts, grass and bready malts, yeast, light citrus maybe on the hops side. Taste balanced, light fruity, sugary light bitterness. Carbonated, crisp yet smooth, earthy finish.

Bottle from Reds. Pours a clearish brown with a finger of beige foam that dissipates. Currant, prune, hay, grass and malty aromas. Smooth, full body but perceived light on the palate. Oatmeal cookie, currant and raisin flavors as it warms. More wet hay and horseblanket mid-palate moving into the finish. Dry and grassy finish with toasted caramel.

Flesje gedeeld door Benzai tijdens KV. Roodbruin helder bier met matig schuim. Weinig aroma, ietsje fruitig. Smaak is iets rokerig en karamel achtig. Weinig nasmaak.

33 cl bottle. creamy tan head. Dark reddish brown color. Lovely caramel malt nose has berry-like notes. Soft, supple dark malt flavor is filled with notes of dried fruit, plums, brown sugar and cola. Silky, soft mouthfeel. Finish has hints of black tea, toast and light spice. Delicious.

330ml bottle from RusBeerShop in Moscow. Pours hazy brown with a medium-sized beige head. Aroma is ripe bananas, chocolate, dried fruits. Taste is sweet, brown sugar, dried fruits, raisins, dark chocolate. Quite highly carbonated and burp-inducing. But all in all extremely tasty. Thank you Belgium.
