330ml Bottle (Thanks Benzai) - Dark brown with a foamy head. Smoky and malty aroma with notes of beech, chocolate and dried fruit. Tangy (quite carbonated), malty, smoky and roasted taste with notes of beech, chocolate, roasted malt and dried fruit.

Bottled. Hazy near black colour with a mediumsized creamy beigeish brown head. Aroma is smoked wet wood, some mild toffee, mild berries and some chocolaty notes. Flavour is roasted malts, chocolate, mild smoked wet wood as well as some liquorice and ashes.

bottle from Bierkoning - thanks! Cloudy deep brown, almost black colour, mid-sized, creamy beige head. Smoky aroma. Full-bodied, malty with lots of roasetd malts and bitter, dark chocolate and a pleasant touch of smoke.

Poured from a 330ml bottle into a tulip glass (Jan ’12). Dark Chestnut brown with a big frothy head (2 fingers initially). Smells of sweetened malt, spices, burnt toffee/caramel and a very slight smoked nose (maybe 15% the intensity of a Schlenkerla Marzen!). Tastes slightly sweeter than I expected, especially the finish. Malty, but less so in taste than smell, but disappointingly not a lot of smoke flavour apparent! Mouthfeel - a little too much carbonation for this style of beer.

Dark brown color, with amber hue; medium sized head. Aroma of chocolate malt and rubber, some medicines. Dry mouthfeel, mild roasted malt flavor, with moderate smoke character; correct bitterness.
Drier than a Porter, without much character.

Bottle. Creamy off-white good mostly lasting head. Dark brown-amber colour. Moderate malty and hoppy aroma. moderate bitter roasted flavor. Raisin notes. not that smoked. Average moderate bitter finish. Oily palate.
