Ter ere van Ferdinand verbiest (Nán Huáirén), heeft brouwerij Maenhout een bier gelanceerd: Ferre. Het bier is even avontuurlijk als Verbiest was en wordt geproduceerd in zijn geboortedorp: Pittem. In het gemeentehuis van Pittem is een bezoekerscentrum, waar je alles kan leren over zijn leven in Pittem en in China.

Bottle shared at THT. Almost clear amber with light beige head. Sweet grapes, soft dank hops, sugary grains, light iron, raisins, fresh figs, soft alcohol, dead leaves. Quite sweet and over medium bitter. Over medium bodied.

33cl bottle from a trade with Jefverstraete, thanks! A clear orange brown beer with a mid-sized good lasting off-white head. Aroma of strong riped red fruits, strong caramelish malt, leaves. Taste of moderate sweet heavy strong red malt, red fruits, caramel, wood, berries. Boozy stuff but interesting!

33cl Bottle from Vonk. Deep amber colour, off-white head. Aroma of raisins, brown sugar, sweet malts, caramel, figs. Flavour follows, sweet dried fruits, figs, raisins, brown sugar, caramel, some alcohol, decent bitterness. Medium to full bodied. Tasty sipper.

Il gusto al naso propende per orzo, luppolo e fruttato. L'olfatto viene sollecitato in maniera elevata e il modo in cui permane è sufficiente. Il cappello di schiuma ha una buona tenuta ed è di persistenza lunga. Il liquido offre una visione offuscata. Bollicine medio-fini costituiscono la forma del perlage. La carbonazione è allegra e vivace. Il colore è ambrato carico tendente rossiccio. Il corpo è strutturato pesante. L'amaro è deciso. L'intensità gustativa è elevata. La continuità gustativa è buona. Il gusto è piacevole. Il retrogusto è intenso. Al palato si fermano sentori di caramello, miele, pane, cereali, frutta secca, pane tostato, luppolo, resina, agrumi e frutta candita. Alcol presente e invadente.

Fles gedeelt door Roelzie1986, geprobeerd met Inoven. Het is een rood bruin bier met weinig schuim. Het heeft een moutige wat fruitige geur. De smaak is vol moutig, zacht zoet en fruitig.

330ml bottle from Vanuxeem. Consumed on a rainy evening at home. Pours a deep reasonably clear amber, small off-white head. Aroma has an encouraging caramel aroma. Taste has a fairly vibrant caramel character, brown sugar, almost chemical sweet with some icing coming through. That said, it's pretty enjoyable for a sweet caramel quad. Those without a sweet tooth may want to stay clear.

Bottle 330ml. @ home. [ As Maenhout Ferre ].Light unclear medium orange amber colour with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white - grey head. Aroma is moderate malty, sweet malt, cake, bread, dried fruit, moderate to heavy yeasty, belgium yeast, candy, alcohol. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a long duration, dried fruit, belgium yeast, candy, alcohol. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to lively (looks flat). [20180211] 7-3-7-3-15

Hazy amber with a lasting, thin, off-white head. Aroma of caramel, red & candied fruits, licorice, candi sugar, ripe banana, cinnamon, malt. Tastes medium to heavy sugary/fruity sweet and only very light hoppy bitter; malty, sweetish finish and a (fruit) liqueur effect. Full body, slick texture, soft carbonation. Enjoyable if you have a sweet tooth but even then, this is a bit too much.
