Just when you thought it was over, summer weather hangs around leading to some of the nicest warm days of the year. Kick back and sip on this Belgian style blonde with juicy peach and ripened mango aged in Chardonnay barrels for nearly two years. Summer isn’t over yet.

Perfectly clear copper and light orange coloured body with a very thin, ultra fast-dying pure white head that leaves nothing on top after a few minutes. Aroma of horribly funky and incredibly pungent notes with more alcohol than I can imagine, some paint thinner, a dash of acetone, turpentine, peaches, mangoes and pure tequilla - very funky throughout, and not in a good way. Medium-bodied; Strong very funky flavour of alcohol, gin, bourbon, pine, tequilla, rum and a dash of pure astringency with some lemons and citrus and not much else that resembles beer, or even wine for that matter - this is funky and all over the place. Aftertaste shows more of the liqour notes, incredible amounts of liqour, funk, bitterness, astringency and flavours (most in a bad way) throughout with way too much emphasis on the alcohol, when it was intended to be more fruit-centric, this came off as anything but that. Overall, perhaps one of the worst beers I've had for the year, and probably without a doubt, the worst from the pretty reputable Flying Fish! Do NOT try to find this one, and if you have it, drink it immediately, do not waste any cellar space on this one! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 21-November-2018 for US$4,29 sampled at my house here in Washington on 04-June-2019.

I like Flying Fish. I don't think they are great but they are able to make fun beers and beers done well with a few duds here and there. They have been able to continue doing their own thing despite the change sin the industry. I was excited to try this but also worried. This is not the typical beer for FF and also it has a lot going on. I was at the bar in The Wine Source in Bmore and decided to get the beer and share it with 3 strangers at the bar. Simply put, I still had too much beer to drink. This was much worse than imagined. Just a mix of bad stuff. Alcohol and solvent nose. Fruity solvent flavor. Wow bad. This is the reason brewers rarely use wine barrels anymore for non-sour beers. They are too buggy. I hope FF doesn't make the same mistake again. 4.3.4.3.9
