From old tasting notes. Hazy yellow gold color. Sweet perfumy banana aroma. Intensely sweet banana flavor with yeasty overtones. Yes we have more bananas.

Again a weird concoction by De Troch, this time banana-flavored (and the only lambic-based fruit beer with banana apart from the closely related Chapeau Banana, as far as I know). Thin, off-white head, dirty yellow blonde colour; aroma and taste one-sidedly dominated by banana, cloyingly sweet, lambic hardly noticeable. Totally bizarre but I can understand there is an audience for this kind of ’beer’. Fortunately I kind of like banana flavour so this suited me better than the peach, mirabelle or lemon versions.

Clear golden colour, slight white head. Oxidised aroma, glue, banana and sweetener. Sweet flavour, banana, light malts, sugar. Finish banana, oxidation, sweet banana. Though the oxidation in itself isn’t bad, it isn’t really a good beer. Well, it was gathering dust in my cellar, and it is a rare lambic tick, so might as well share it, right?

Bottle sampled @ decadent symmetry tasting. Drink by 2006. Pale gold with horrible black floaties! Nose of oxidized banana syrup and vinegar. Nasty. Sweet, syrupy fruit flavor, vinegar and oxidation, like a banana and pineapple salad dressing. Anything for a rare lambic tick…?

Courtesy of Martinus. 33 cl. bottle sampled @ decadent symmetry tasting. BBF 11/2006, so what 2003 Vintage presumably? Appearance is amber, orange with no head, lots of dark brown UFO”s floating akin to wood chunks. Nose is very sweet, oxidized akin to a good way in a BE beer but only combined with a sickengly sweet banana smell, white sugar concentrate & sherry, very, very weird. Taste is huge white sugar, slight corn, big banana, huge candy, white sugar, syrupy,.. Flat, hint syrupy body. Man this is beyond weird, very hard to drink a lot of, I understand why even these guys took this one of the market.

(Bottle 25 cl) Comes as "Chapeau Tropical" at 3% ABV. Another bizarre fruit beer from De Troch, so far the pineapple beer has been the most weird, but this comes a close second. Hazy yellow, not much head. Weak body, sweetish. Banana flavour is present but not overpowering. More soda pop than beer, but not really unpleasant though. 260499
