The World Cup is finally back, and so is Olé — a quadrennial lager that’s carefully calibrated to quench the thirst of footie fans. Our 2022 Olé is a 5.3% Keller Pils brewed with @EpiphanyCraftMalt’s Modern Pils, soft red winter wheat, and Vienna malts. We mash-hopped this worldly beverage with Saaz during sparge, then added Tettnanger to the kettle, and finally employed New Zealand’s Riwaka as a dry-hop.
Given an extended boil and an expedited conditioning, it’s a true young lager, unfiltered and best enjoyed during the World Cup’s proceedings. Aromas of fresh bread, fruit punch, bright citrus, herbaceousness, and florality abound — as hopefully goals do for your squad.

Pounder: Lemon zest nose, malt and hay underneath. Clear yellow, medium head, nice lace. Lemon zest, coriander, hay, lillies. Medium body, soft carbonation. Reminds me of Troegs Sunshine Pils, which I really like.

16oz can pours a clear gold with some creamy, white head. Nose has honey, green grape, a little corn and biscuit. Flavor is better, corn and malt and biscuit, light green melon, green grape. Floral too. Crisp finish.

Tallboy shared at a tasting, thanks to whomever brought this. This is the most simple and fresh pale lager. No complaints, low hop, some malt. Clean but dull and not crisp.

From a 4-pack, purchased from the brewery. Poured a clear, golden yellow color with a white head. Aroma was light toasted malts, crisp malts, with a nice grassy character. Flavor was similar, grassy, herbal malts. Crisp finish.

$3.60 pint can from Wine Warehouse. My first offering from Ocelot, and #1501 for Virginia beers. Pours slightly hazy pale golden with a soft white head. Aroma is crisp grass, poor man's pepper, light wax. Flavor is smooth grasses, bread crust. Not a ton of flavor, but it's smooth and not overly bitter.
