Belgian-Style Brown Ale Brewed with Yams, Molasses, Maple Syrup and Spices

Brewed with 17 lbs. of yams per barrel (in other words, a lot of yams!), this autumn seasonal is a different take on the “pumpkin” beer style. Brewed with cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, vanilla, molasses, and maple syrup. Rather than ferment the beer with our traditional Belgian yeast strain, this version was 100% fermented with brettanomyces, adding a dry, earthy quality to the traditionally bold and spicy beer.

Taster at Alibi Room during The Bruery tap takeover. Pours a hazy brown with a tan head. Aroma is spices and some cinnamon. Similar taste. Halloween beer, hehe.

(Bottle) Pours clear red brown with big dense white head. Great aroma with ester banana dominant and peppery hints. Great palate - soft, full bodied, slightly sticky with plenty of gentle carbonation. Unusual and enjoyable taste. There’s rich caramel, peppery spice, alcohol bite. There’s a good balance between sweet and bitter with both being strongly present. Excellent unusual beer.

Kompot dyniowo-porzeczkowo-rabarbarowy z przyprawami saisonowymi i cynamonem. Nie jest zle. Nie jest dobre. Kwaskowato wytrawne

750 ml bottle. Hazy orange copper color topped by a large rocky beige head. Aroma of caramel, yams, cardamom and maple. First sip is sweet dark sugar, dark malt and spices. Sweet caramel and spice throughout. Hints of nutmeg, cinnamon and maple syrup. Warming alcohol in finish. Overall, a decent fall seasonal and a slight departure from the plethora of pumpkin brews.

Przyprawowe, slodkawe, raczej rozczarowanie, syropu klonowego brak, ale dobre :)

Tap at Gambrinus. Tons of yam on the nose, with clove, cinnamon, star anise and cardamom dominating. Light-bodied, with tons of spice on the palate. Yams work pretty well, but just too boozy. 4 oz pour was more than enough.
