Franconian Kraft is a kellerbier style from the region of Franconia in Bavaria. This kellerbier utilizes floor malted specialty malts from Germany, and is hopped with a noble hop, Perle. Franconian Kraft was decoction mashed and open-fermented to express the ingredients unique qualities in this recipe. It is a rustic, amber, and malty interpretation of a classic country lager. Like the rest of our Kellerbier Series, Franconian Kraft is left unfiltered.

Reviewed from notes.
Can to mug.
Appearance: copper color with a two finger eggshell white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: sweet bready/pretzel doughy malt/slight sourdough with some earthy to grassy hops underneath
Favor: blends the prior noted aromas to a fine sweet malty to hoppy quality with a light bitter hopping underneath; finishes the same way
Texture: light to medium bodied, sessionable; good smoothness to it - nothing distracting, nice carb level
Overall: maybe just a tad heavier than most Kellerbiers I've had but I'm not arguing I'd still come back to this.

On tap at Jack's Abby, pours a clear copper / amber with a small white head. Aroma brings out crisp biscuity malt and light cereal sweetness. Flavour is clean and crisp, with crisp biscuity malt, straw and light cereal malt sweetness. Little bit of a bready undertone. Clean and easy to drink. Not bad.

16oc can dated 4/25/18. Dark amber color. Aroma is a little fruity, a little toffee malt, and strong lagered mineral/metal. Flavor is very bready with sweet toffee with a faint hop finish. Its simple if not a bit dull. A bitter flavor sticks around for a while.

16 ounce can. Amber gold pour is mildly hazy. Large rocky beige head. Light malty nose has rustic bread notes. Light bready malt notes upfront. Some caramel notes in middle. Grassy, herbal hops in finish. Rich malty character throughout. Quite tasty.

Pours deep amber into a shaker. Tan head with medium retention crackles and recedes to skim surface. Sweet caramel aromas. Soft with caramel and sourdough upfront turning to mild earth in the medium length finish.
