Location: Bottle at Paul's Blind Impy Stout Tasting, 1/5/13, Rating #2727
Aroma: The nose has roasted malts, chocolate, and some dark fruit notes
Appearance: This one pours a brown color with a light brown head
Flavor: It tastes fairly sweet, with a good amount of chocolate and roasted malts
Palate: The body is medium-plus, it feels a little thick and a touch syrupy, with some light heat
Overall Impression: Another solid one, but not a standout for me. I still found it to be plenty solid and I'm glad I tried it.

650ml bottle. Pitch black colour with huge, firm, thick, frothy to creamy, foamy, lasting, lacing, tan head. Chocolately dark malty aroma with coffee and cappuccino notes. Taste is minimally roasty dark malty, coffee notes, pleasant dryness, hoppy overtones produce Black IPA-typical carrot and green onion notes; well hidden alcohol, minimally sweet coffee notes dominate the lasting finish. A lovingly hopped Impy Stout with resemblances to a Black IPA.

Bottle, 22oz. A nice-looking beer, a dense tan head of moderate size sits on top of a more or less black body. Lots of hops on the nose, piney and resiny, with roasted malts and some licorice notes. Hints of dried fruits, burnt hints and dried fruits. The flavor might lack a bit on complexity, but it’s really pleasant, the hops standing out, adding pine cones and resins, and the malts adding roasted notes, licorice and some dried fruits. Dry on the palate, full-bodied and soft. Lasting roasted finish. Certainly a nice one. 121102

Bottle. Pitch black pour with a light brown head. Aroma had notes of roasted malts, dark choc, coffee and dark fruits. Thickish mouthfeel that displayed similar traits to the nose and some well placed hop bitterness. ABV (not the squatting Spurs boss) emerged from the shadows to give a pleasant warming hit..A robbust and well executed stout.

Tap. Pours deep brown to black, clear with a small brown head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is not strong, but has notes of coffee, dark chocolate, dark roasted malt, and a bit of citrus. Flavor is lightly sweet espresso and molasses, quite bitter and noticeably alcoholic. Finish is bitter coffee plus some alcohol warming. Full bodied. A little too bitter for my tastes. Unfortunately I did not get a lot of hoppy notes other than "bitter." in my 8 oz tap.
