Bottle from Pallieter85, many thanks. Hazy dark brown color with small off-white head. Fruity aroma with earthy notes. Very strange mostly alcoholic taste with caramel, sweet malt, chocolate, some earthy notes and little bit harsh bitterness in finish. But somehow I liked it.

Got a 75 cl. bottle for free from DHL as a goodbye gift. THX! Cool Service. Brownish, hazy with an off-white head. Ripe and overripe darkfruit in the nose, caramel, sweet with some booze comming through, sweet leaves, brown sugar in the nose. Bitter herbal in the taste, presumably the hops, leaves, burned sugar, caramel, lots of bitter leaves, lots of bitterness and some booze, very bitter leaves & herbs in the back. Medium, light oily body. Interesting & very bitter for a Belgian beer, enjoyed their blond housebeer more.

Bottle in our room at DHVL. The only non-sour I drank in Belgium! It pours very dark ruby brown, with a massive beige head. The nose is pine, citrus fruit, candied peel, roasted malt and underlying spice. The taste is roasted malt, charcoal, pine, tar, assertive bitterness, dark fruit/berry, ash and some spice, with a pretty dry, bitter finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Smooth and well balanced. Sort of like a Belgian Black IPA!

Bottle @ De Heeren provided gratis as a nightcap for staying the night at their establishment. Dark brown appearance with a light brown head. Toasty caramel/chocolate (turtle), toasty grainy nose. Tangy, blackberry, dark fruity, plum, spicy yeasty, caramel, chocolate, fairly fruity flavor. Not bad.

Post Borefts I jaunt to De Heeren van Liedekercke. Hazy dark amber beer. A little toffee caramel on the nose (very light). Caramel malt with a little fruit and light sourness. Pretty drinkable.

Bottle shared at DHL during Paul’s Pre-Wedding Beer Weekend. Pours cloudy auburn with a dense, foamy head. Fresh, piney and lightly yeasty aroma. Medium to big sweet flavor with toasted sugar, light caramel, bubblegum, spices, and very mild fruity tang. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Mildly warming to finish with sweet and toasty malts tinged with caramel, pine, some candi sugar, mild citrus. Dries out nicely with some sweet, toasty grassiness, mild yeast and dark, toasty candi sugar. Very good. Strong yet still highly drinkable.

Bottle, 75cl corked, at De Heeren van Liedekercke. It’s an unclear, brown beer topped by a dense, finger-thick, off-white to beige head leaving lacings. Cellar, prune notes, hints of chocolate and Belgian yeast as well as some caramel on the nose. The flavor is sweet, with chocolate and caramel hints, prunes and a fine hoppyness giving some bitterness. Full body, smooth and nicely carbonated. Mostly sweet in the end, but with bitterness trying to bring balance. A really pleasant one. 110501

750 ml bottle @ Heeren van Liederkercke. Amber body with a fine off-white head. Aroma is malt, spices, burnt sugar and asparagus. Flavor is sweet and sour, malt, karamel, pepper, bitter and light oxidation. Medium body. A bit unusually and might be over the top, but otherwise quite OK.
