The jewel in our crown was celebrated, many years in advance, by the prescient Jem Casey, Poet of the Pick and Bard of Booterstown, when he remarked that when “…no rashers grease your pan / A pint of plain is yer only man.” We agree and we’re not alone. Our Plain Porter – porter is a lighter version of stout – is a double gold medal winner. Its subtly aromatic, a silky, round mouthful with a touch of bitterness kicking in at the finish.

Negra, con espuma ocre, escasa para una stout. Aroma a chocolate y caramelo. En boca agradable y muy cremosa. Muy balanceada con rico sabor acaramelado, malta tostada, y notas de chocolate negro en el postgusto, muy amargo. Muy buena.

Klare dunkel orangebraune Farbe, fngerbreite leicht beige Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr schokoladig, röstmalzig, Kaffee. Geschmack bitter schokoladig, Kaffee, dann wird es wässriger, dennoch gut!

On tap at The Porterhouse, pours a deep dark brown with a reddish tinge and a small tan head. Nose reveals notes of light dry toasted malt. Flavour is smooth and dry, with toasted malt. This gets its character mostly from the nitro. Not a whole lot of flavour but it's quite smooth. Decent.

Draught. Dark brown with a reddish tint with large creamy tan head, slight coffee aroma, thin body, medium carbonation, balanced roasted malt taste, longish finish. Quite a nice porter, simple but good.

20 oz nonic nitro draft at The Porterhouse at Fraunces Tavern in New York. The pour is a mostly clear brown ruby with a lasting one inch khaki nitro head. The aroma is soft roast with a bit of mineral faint in the back. The taste is a pleasant clean toasted malt, with bit of roast and hint of sweet dry in the back. Faint mineral element in the finish. The palate is light to medium bodied with a soft nitro mouth feel. Thins out as it warms. Clean easy drinking.

Draught. Small brown head. Aroma is mostly dark chocolate. Slight bitterness, light sweetness. Creamy texture. I prefer something more intensive in taste.
