The jewel in our crown was celebrated, many years in advance, by the prescient Jem Casey, Poet of the Pick and Bard of Booterstown, when he remarked that when “…no rashers grease your pan / A pint of plain is yer only man.” We agree and we’re not alone. Our Plain Porter – porter is a lighter version of stout – is a double gold medal winner. Its subtly aromatic, a silky, round mouthful with a touch of bitterness kicking in at the finish.

Tap at Black Door, Helsinki. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy long-lasting light tan head. The aroma is roasted malt, light hop. The flavour is medium bitter with a light smoky malt bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Served slightly cool which suited the time of year. Very drinkable.

In Belgrade at a private tasting event. Pours a dark brown with an ivory foam. Nose of grassy and amber malts notes. In the mouth it stays mild with a coffee aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Svart med lyst beige skum. Lukter kaffe, malt og sjokolade. Smaker også av sjokolade. Lite kulsyre og noe bitter i ettersmak.

5 %. Rødbrun med høyt lys brunt skum. lukter kaffe, malt og sjokolade. Bittersøt noe salt i smaken. Kort bitter men rund avsluttning

on Tap. Smooth in the beginning, a bit watery. The mainpart is roasted, but a bit light in body. Easy to drink and creamy. The aftertaste has hints of roast and caramel, that cover the light body a bit. Nice and smooth. --> 12/12/11/11

Tap at Janoinen Lohi, Helsinki. Originally rated 12112011. Colour is almost black with small head. ARomas and flavours: Coffee and roasted malts. Very thin.

Flaska från SB. Aningen mörkare än cola, lågt beige skum. Fin rostad arom med mörkt bröd, lakrits, soja, kaffe, choklad, kex, lite blommigt och kanderat socker. Smaken är torrare och kärvare än vad doften och etiketten skvallrar om. Beskt kaffe, choklad men också en EKG-blommighet i bakgrunden och lätt syrlighet. Medelstor kropp och relativt stora smaker utan att bli tung. Trevlig.
