Appearance- black, opaque, a 2-3 finger light brown head. Aroma- chocolate and coffee, dark malts, caramel, toast, spicy hints, some chilli detectable. Hints of vanilla sweetness. Taste- dark chocolate, bitter rich coffee, cocoa powder, smoky hints, treacle, roast malt, charred coffee beans, burnt toast, bitter lengthy finish with hints of chilli heat. Very good, lots of flavour for the abv.

At Ghent Beer Festival 2017. Cloudy black with a frothy, beige head. The aroma contains licorice, roasted malt, hops, smoke, chili, pepper, some chocolate. It tastes medium to heavy bitter and light sweet, with a spicy, alcoholic, dry finish. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. A daring beer; quite complex; I should have this again and in a larger quantity than one receives at a beer festival.

0,33l bottle at home courtesy of Saeglopur, big thanks for this one. BB 29.03.2021. black color, medium big dark coffee colored head. smells earthy, spices, bitter chocolate, milk chocolate, nuts, hazelnuts, light caramel. very nice smell. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes earthy, grassy, ashy, bitter herbal, light chilis, bit metallic / light oxidation, citric, bit acidic. finishes lightly dry and medium roasty / earthy bitter with notes of ash, bitter herbs and light oxidation. nice one overall, not totally convinced by the taste, especially not such a fan of the balance. overall still very good one, chilis are well integrated.

Fluffy, brown sugar coloured head stayed well on a jet black still body. Spicy, peppery aroma with malt & bitterness. Very smooth on the palate, crisp but a bit thin on the back. Vanilla, cream, coffee & brown sugar to the fore followed by a peppery, spicy, tangy, hoppy back & a long chilli aft.

Pours pitch black, topped with a sizeable and pretty lasting dark geige head. Nice chocolate and cocoa nose upfront. Some hoppy notes in the back, and a touch of chili presence. Creamy, quite full body. Starts with a sweet touch and finishes with medium bitterness, aftertaste a bit more roasty. Nicely drinkable, though expected some more chili heat from it, which comes in moderate measure very late.

Whoa, suhmooootth. Perfectly balanced. Appearances Pitch Black with a 10 thick head that lasts a long time and lots of lace. Aroma is roast cocoa vanilla spiced almonds chili and a little funk maybe some yeast. Flavors a little like nose chili comes out a little bit more. Smooth as a con artist. Man this is good.

330ml bottle. Pours pitch black with thick fluffy brown head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, smoke and all quite savoury. Flavour is smokey chipotle, dark chocolate, savoury earthiness and plenty of spice. The finish is hot but not too much. Really quite different and really nice.

Tap at Salon piva. Expertly mixing assertive dark roasted malt flavours with light to moderate chilli. No paprika but real chilli. Easy drinking despite the full body. Great beer.
