Whisky barrel aged version (according to the brewery) of Gulden Draak Classic, launched in 2014 for the 230th birthday of the brewery, originally in 75 cl bottles only.

Gulden Draak Brewmaster is een ode van de zesde generatie meesterbrouwer aan de vorige generaties brouwers van de brouwerij Van Steenberge, aan het vakmanschap van onze traditionele brouwkunst en met name aan de vijfde generatie brouwer: Jozef Van Steenberge, die zich rond het jaar 1975 verdiepte in de speciaalbieren, gecombineerd met de experimenten van de nieuwe ‘Craft beer world’.
Bij de Gulden Draak Brewmaster zullen de brouwers het basisbrouwsel van de Gulden Draak Classic laten rijpen op houten vaten afkomstig van gedestilleerde dranken, afhankelijk van de beschikbaarheid.

Aroma: houtaroma, whiskysmaken

Ondanks het hoge alc. percentage toch een heel aangenaam, zacht, caramelzoetig bier van ‘t vat !

F: big, egg-white, average to good retention. C: pale coppery, clear. A: vanilla, oak, cognac, perfumed, mellow fruity, banana, apple cake. T: malty, candy sugar, banana, mellow fruity, oak, huge vanilla, peach, caramel, yeasty, warming alcohol, very nice, full body, low to medium carbonation, fully enjoyed, 33cl bottle Limited edition 2017, bottled 04/2017 from Albert Heijn Duinenwater supermarket in Knokke.

Golden with short lived head, some lacing. Sweet toasted malts, syruppy caramel, whiskey, grain, alcohol, less yeasty & more rich sweetness than the 9000. Light vanilla. Big sweet & moderate bitter. Full body & soft carbonation. Thick malty & oily feel.

Sampled from bottle at home. Golden with short lived head, some lacing. Sweet toasted malts, syruppy caramel, whiskey, grain, alcohol, less yeasty and more rich sweetness than the 9000. Light vanilla. Big sweet and moderate bitter. Full body and soft carbonation. Originally at my 20K tasting but this intrigued me enough to get another bottle. Almost clear dark amber beer, good pale tan head. Palate is airy and mildly dry and has decent carbonation. Light malts bring a light sweetness. Nice mellow whiskey dominates, a little fruity whiskey and mild spice. Touch of vanilla and a good toffee streak holding it all together. Light finish. Just has a great drinkability this one and I polished off most of the bottle in one sitting. Very nice.

Bottle @ home. Golden to light amber colour with a small white head. Smells boozy, sweet, malts. Tastes very sweet, artificial, vanilla, malt, candy. Ik dacht namelijk dat Gulden Draak zwart was. Zoet, hout, licht kruidig, zwaar.
