The first beer we developed was called Keikoppenbier, referring to the nickname of the inhabitants of Poperinge. We brewed this beer for the first time on November 9, 2011. The very first brew in our own brewery!
In our first beer we wanted you to be able to taste our story so three varieties of hops are used. The combination of these hops gives the beer a distinctive hop aroma and provides a good balance with the used malts.

From a bottle shared by Craftmember. Very thick and rocky, densely lacing, egg-white head, clearly hops-enhanced, over a lightly hazy golden blonde beer. Agreeable aroma of dried hay, field flowers, white pepper, grass, white bread, dried citrus peel, honey, peach, apple peel. Dry, crisp fruity taste, green apple, green plums and orange peel freshness, very bready and yeasty middle phase with soft to medium, minerally carbonation, finishes with noble ’Euro’ hoppiness, grassy, very floral, peppery, hayish and leafy, hiding a slight hint of whisky and lingering breadiness. Old school, but I like this a lot, it feels very fresh, honest and a bit rural, just the way I like my Belgian ale.

25cl, best before 06.2015. The beer starts smooth and fresh. Lots of floral but a bit mouldy hops. Smooth, easy to drink, hints of grain. Fresh smooth floral body. Hints of must. Interesting, but the dusty mould is a bit too much (but I think it depends on the hops used...).

330ml bottle from Chez Marie, Ieper. Pours hazy deep amber with good white bubbly head. Aroma is light hop. Flavours appear quite muted, was really looking forward to this given De Plukker’s hop-growing background, but ironically that’s what it seemed to lack. Some malt, yeast and hay, but ultimately not a memorable beer.
