Draft @ ACBF 2012: light orange amber with a white head, smell is citrus hops, oranges, nectar, very fruity overall, taste is very fruity, nectar, citrus, apricot & peachy hops, hint of malts & yeast, caramel, it is definitely hoppy & bitter but on the very fruity & wonderfully mellow side of the spectrum, medium, hop filled body, my kind of DIPA & probably the IPA/DIPA of ACBF for me, including that “other” popular one

500mL bottle, pours a cloudy orange with a huge white head. Aroma of yeast, British hops / resin and orange zest. Flavour of spicy, zesty hops, yeast, sort of a soap quality, balanced by sufficient caramel malts. The yeast is quite prominent here creating a nice dry palate. Spicy, perfectly balanced flavour profile. Very good.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dagan’s place. Thanks Dagan. Cloudy dark orange-amber with a huge white head. Aroma of floral and citric hops and some fruity and spicy yeast. Flavor starts sweetish and malty, continues with a bit of fruity yeast and finishes bitter with hops and a bit of alcohol.

Keg at CP&K. It pours cloudy orange, with a thin off-white head. The nose is orange, mango, peach, yeast, resin, wood, cream, lactose and hay. The taste is orange, tangerine, alcohol warmth, leather, resin, wood, pith, lactose and spice, with a bitter, alcoholic finish. Medium to full body, fine carbonation and sticky mouth-feel. All the taste is there, just too much alcoholic burn for me.

Bottle @ home (bottled Oct. 2010). Clear amber color, almost white head. Strong resiny hops upon opening the bottle, but this quickly disappears. What remains is sweet fruit, toffee, malt, with a just hint of hoppiness. Sweet flavor. Pretty strong alcoholic. Just a little bit of bitterness in the finish. Not a bad beer, but where are those hops?

From a 500ml bottle on 31/10/2011 (batch 336, brewed 4/1/2011), Pours a very dark cloudy apricot with a tiny head. The aroma is sweet fruit, caramel and dark sugar, with some mild piney hops. This is a super sweet DIPA - a real dessert version. Super sweet orange, toffee and caramel dominate. There is a definite hop presence, but it’s very mild for a double, with the 82 ibu well hidden. It’s quite syrupy in texture. This may disappoint those looking for big a hop rush, but it’s very enjoyable and ridiculously quaffable for a beer that’s 9%.

Bottle. Hazy orange colour with an off white head. Massive grape and moderate malt nose. Rich grape in the flavour as well and a nice malty background .

A hazed dark copper brown ale with a thin lacing off white head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt with dark fruits, resinous hops, sulfur, a bit off. In mouth, sweet caramel malt with dark fruits, light resinous notes, nice and smooth for a 9 years old ale.
