A good ipa. Loads of hops in the aroma, with lots of dry grass and some earth. Thick on the palate, with medium sweetness and lots of bitter hops. Not quite balanced, with the hops being more prominent. The high abv is well hidden.

Bottle. Orange brown color, cloudy. Tangerine, pineapple and oily hops in the aroma. Malty sweet but also oily hopbitter flavor with pineapple. Notes of alcohol. Surprisingly well balanced. Oily hoppy piney aftertaste with mint. Good!

My evaluation is base on a 500ml bottle, batch 206, shared with Hilde at Bar & Cigar in Oslo and a 500ml bottle, batch 170, 8.5% abv, at home. Pours a cloudy, dark amber coloured body, under a frothy, bubbly, off-white and persistent head. Good laceworks. Inviting smell of fresh hops. Fine transition from aroma to the taste of succulent oranges followed by spiced hops and tangy orange peels. Lingering dry bitter endnotes. Soft natural carbonation. Well bodied, but still rather easy to drink. Very much to my linking (13.03.2009 and 21.03.2009).

(Bottle, batch 170, on 2009-02-15) Orange and cloudy. Huge white head. Grassy and fruity aroma. Full bodied and dry palate with lot of carbonation. Malts, saltiness, pine, bitterness, fruitiness and lot of hops in taste. Hops and bitterness in aftertaste.

Bottle labeled Haandbryggeriet Dobbel Dram Batch 153. Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a hazy golden body and a huge foamy white head. Aroma is lightly grapefruit with toffee and a slight yeast note. Taste is tons of strong citrus and floral hops with a caramel backbone. Light bubbles and a water like mouthfeel.

Bottle. Amber beer with a dark cream colored head. Spicy, grapefruit, light floral aroma. Grapefruit, spice, and earth flavor. Medium-plus bodied with some creaminess. Balanced bitterness. Spice, grapefruit, light pine, and light earth lingers.

Bottle 50 cl. Hazy amber golden with a bubbly off-white head that dissipates rather quickly. Herbal and medicinal aroma. Quite full-bodied, fruity with some yeast. Somewhat astringent finish, again hebal with something reminding me of cough syrup. Surprisingly low in bitterness. 231208

Bottle (April 08/as Dobbel Dram/9%) from Liquid Solutions in Portland, OR. Ripe apricot color with a large frothy off-white head. Strong aromas of fruity hop. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is fruit hop over delicious malt. This is really great stuff.
