Saison Rue is an unfiltered, bottle conditioned, Belgian/French-style farmhouse ale. This is a beer of subtlety and complexity, with malted rye, spicy, fruity yeast notes, biscuit-like malt backbone and a slight citrus hop character. With age, this beer will dry out and will become more complex with rustic notes of leather and earth from the contribution of a wild yeast strain. Being a saison, Saison Rue is ambiguous unto itself as it is a different beer when fresh and when aged.

Shared bomber, in snifter. Shiny orange/gold, slight haze; fine, thick persistent white head. Rye, Belgian yeastiness, and hint of apple and pepper. Tart, zesty mouthfeel and palate start to finish. Great farmhouse ale.

Bottle @ Home. Huge gusher, lost half a bottle to the kitchen sink :( Finally poured hazy orange with a offwhite head. Aroma of malt, brett, wspice, white pepper, loads of sweet fruity hops, peach, mango. Flavor is malt, yeast, light brettty, spicy, fruity hops, some alcohol. Medium body, lively carbonation, rather dry finish with some alcohol. 241213

8.5% part of the 3000 yen tasting set at CBB. Nice opaque honey yellow with a thick white head. Sour, spicy with a bit of biscuit/graham notes - it smells like a good saison! Full bodied, sweet, surprisingly some velvety caramel notes, a bit of tartness, some spicy hints & barnyard in the earthy finish. Delicious.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 3/27/2013. Pours moderately hazy golden orange color with a 2 finger dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big pear, peach, pineapple, grape, apple, pepper, clove, hay, grass, herbal, candi sugar, rye, bread, light funk, and yeast earthiness. Fantastic aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, Brett, and malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big pear, peach, grape, apple, pepper, clove, herbal, candi sugar, bread, rye, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of light fruits, pepper, clove, candi sugar, bread, rye, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast flavors with moderate male balance; with a good sweetness/spiciness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a moderately slick, smooth, and crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent saison style. All around great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast and malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Poured a slightly orange/amber color with a pretty decently sized white head. Aroma was some nice floral notes, with a touch of spice. Flavor had a nice light citrus character, with flowers and some spice. Frothy, well carbonated, the bubbles danced around my mouth as this was being consumed.

Bottle, thanks SirLimpsalot. Hazy orange with a small white head. Pleasant aroma of brett, toffee, spices and fruit. Similar taste. Also malt. It was easy to enjoy this one.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with small white head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is a strong brett and fruit. Medium mouth with strong brett flavor and spice with nice dry finish. Good.

First time having this! Solid gusher, huge fluffy head that fades slowly. Rustic burnt orange appearance. Nose is tart, earthy, lots of spices like cloves and a hint of apricot. Taste is very nice. Immediately, funky horse blanket, mild acidity with some citrus undertones. Sort of a moldy oak finish. Smells fantastic but the taste leaves a lot to be desired.

A hazed golden amber saison with a thick off white head. In aroma, a smooth creamy fruity malt with light curacao. In mouth, a smooth Bretty malt with curacao, tingly mouthfeel, very good for a 3 year old beer.
