Bottle from Craft Brewed. Pours a clearish straw gold with 2 big rocky fingers of foam that linger. Wonderful nose full of grassy aromas alongside mineral, grain, spelt, hay and horseblanket and light banana. Dry on the palate, then some medium sweetness, candy sugar notes. Very active carbonation throughout. Pairs well with almost any kind of food. More hay and horseblanket with candy sugar as it warms. Balanced very well. As it moves towards the finish, lots of peppercorn and grain husk bitterness. Fantastic saison. --- Beer merged from original tick of Saison d'Erpe-Mere on 25 Feb 2018 at 17:57 - Score: 8. Original review text: Grassy nose with faint mineral, spelt, hay and light banana. Crisp and clean on the palate. Active carb. Balanced. Grass, peppercorns.

Bottle @ company beer tasting. Almost clear golden body with a big, foamy white head. Aroma is quite light and delicate with pale malt, spicy yeast, esters, pepper and floral with a hint of alcohol. Flavor is very complex, soft malt, spicy yeast, pepper, flowers, esters, a bit sharp alcohol, some alcohol and mild, refreshing citric fruit. Lively carbonation. Fine balanced body and complex aftertaste as well. A very nice, classic Saison in the original Belgium tradition style.

Bottle. Slightly cloudy golden color with soapy white head. Aroma is dough, bananas, lemongrass, spicy yeasts. Taste is dough, citrus, grassy, peppery yeasts, rustic earthy funk. High carbonation. Peppery finish. Awesome Saison, but quite extremely carbonated.

75cl bottle from Glazen Toren, shared with Eric in Eecke. Pours a misty blonde, large pure white head. Wonderful welcoming nose, full of good saison yeast and lovely sweet swirls, continuing to taste, exceptional flavour profile, rounded, harmonious.. an absolute joy, a benchmark saison.
30th July 2017: 75cl bottle from Vanuxeem. Pours hazy golden yellow, large white head. Aroma has good citrus, lemon, spice. Continues to taste, exceptional balance of spice and citrus flavours with a nice bitter edge. Good carbonation. Excellent saison.

75 cl bottle stated at 6,5%, bought at Más que Cervezas (Madrid). OK, I know RateBeer recommends to serve saisons in flutes, and I know De Glazen Toren means this one not to be served in stemmed glasses of any kind but in shakers (you bet why), but I go my own way (quoting FWM, kudos) and use a white wine glass. Yeah, that’s my personal choice, hit me. Well, after this rather long intro, let’s get to the tasting proper: Pours very hazy pale golden, big and thick, rapidly growing, long-lingering, off-white, head. Aroma is not so intense and not so dull, rather intermediate: vanilla, dry lemon, cardamom, orange. Quite your average saison, I’d say. Taste is not so dry (but dry, anyway), fresh, fizzy, not bitter and not really long.
