Bottle. Dark amber color. Butter cookies and maple syrup in the aroma. Sharp alcoholic sweet flavor with some distant vinous notes and butterscotch. Oaky aftertaste. Not unpleasant but limited in depth.

Bottle, somewhat over date (bb 15 Sept. 2012). Brown color. Beige head, sticky, with some dark spots in it. Aroma’s: sweet malts, sugar, sweet & sour fruit, raisins, sweet spices, with red fruit/berries retronasal. Flavor is sweet, a bit alcoholic. Body is actually rather thin (for a 10%er). Not much happening in the finish. Nothing to do with a Bière de Garde. Not very exciting.

15 cl. draft sample @ Bruges Beer Festival 2012: dark brown with a slight red hue & tanned head, smells sweet with caramel malts, nuts & sweet spices, taste is sweet with a dash of milk chocolate & cold chocolate drink mixed with full dark malts, Belgian spices, sweet caramel, dark fruits & hint of fitting booziness in the finish, creamy malt & dash of milk chocolate body, not exactly what I imagined going by the name but quite nice actually
