From the rare beer club - Rat Rider version. Sampled from a 750 ml corked bottle this beer poured an opaque apricot color with a small white head that lingered and produced good lacing. The aroma was bubblegum, yeast and pineapple juice. The flavor was pineapple juice, bubblegum, clove and yeasty mustiness with a long and surprisingly dry pineapple juice and bubblegum elements lingering. Thick and full bodied. Interesting.

Despite its sad headlessness, the beer still looks good, a swamp of yellow-gold murk glowing in the light. Particulate matter is suspended throughout giving a bit more meaning to the term "wild ale." The smell is quite striking and took some getting used to on my part. There are some typical Belgian notes, but its infused with a woodsy must that seems to be the hallmark of this beer. The beer could use a bit more carbonation for a nicer feel. The dryness makes for an easily drinkable beer but not significantly more or less than any good Belgian, which is in no way a slight. 9/5/2010. Reinaert Flemish Wild Ale version. Much less funky than I remember, thought this version has always seemed to have the least funk. Fairly hoppy with grassy and floral notes. Taste starts crisp and refreshing and finishes with some mustiness and a hop bite. Fair amount of clean light malt flavor. There’s still some sweetness in this relatively fresh bottle but the yeast shows a lot of potential to dry this thing completely out with age. I still thoroughly enjoy this beer.

Courtesy of Gillard. Pours hazy deep gold with thin off white head. The aroma has a pulse of tasty funk and then moving toward apples, minced cherries and earthiness at the end of a big draw. The taste is sweet with fruit and sugar consisting of apples, prunes, plums and some sweet grapes. It dries out some into the finish with lingering grapes and faint funk.

(11/14/08) Bottle at Eulogy in Philadelphia. Slightly hazy golden color with a quickly-diminishing white head. Fruity aroma with some bretty funk, apricot, apple and peach notes. Sweetish flavor with a bit of malt, light funky hints, fruits and spiciness. A rather bitter finish with some hops. Yeasty taste towards the bottom of the bottle. Medium-bodied with lively carbonation. Less bretty than what I hoped for but still tasty. Alcohol is pretty well-hidden.

Hazy amber with medium off white head. Sourish aroma with woody and malty notes. Flavour likewise with brett notes to follow up.

A slightly spicier version of Reinaert Triple, as if spice were added to the brew. 12/10/2008, rated 3.1 Surly Bird version at Sub Zero in Anchorage, Alaska. Cloudy pale yellow color, fluffy white head, delicate lacing. Aroma of sour and dusty lemons. Taste is bitter lemon with moderate funk. Tasty. 3.5

Demon Fish bottle
Pours hazy golden yellow with minimal white head. Light bready, funky aroma. Flavors are subtle sweet fruits, tart funkiness and a bit of sourness. Medium body with lively carbonation and a dry finish.
