ONe word sums up this beer.......robust! Smells big time of roasted malt, and coffee, with a touch of ripe fruit. Flavour is very roasty, and smokey, with a nice roasted malt finish. great chocolate, and coffee flvours, they mingle nicely. Great stuff!

Black beer, thin head. There's nothing especially distinctive or memorable about this but it's a big, tasty malty porter with hits of chocolate and coffee. Fine stuff.

Aroma is quite sweet with hints of vanilla and chocolate. The flavour is similar but with the added complexity of roasted malts and a touch of smoke.

500 ml bottle, purchased @ Julio’s Liquors. (had in my cellar about 6 months) Intensely dark brown with large beige head. Bottle has a bit too much carbonation. Aroma of chocolate, mild coffee, some dark fruits. Dry roasted coffee, roasted grain, hints of licorice and a bit of a citrus hop. Although the citrus is barely noticeable. A bit of lactose sugar as well. Medium in body leaning on the full side. The texture is on the creamy side but the fizzy/ over-carbonation hurts it I feel. Still really tasty.

500 ml bottle into pint glass, batch 158, bottled 5/8/2008. Pours a nearly pitch black color with a small 1 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Some slight spotty lacing on the glass. Aromas of big raisin, plum, chocolate, roasted malt, caramel, biscuit, wood, herbal, and a touch of smoke. Nice and pleasant aromas; with good strength and balance. Taste of chocolate, caramel, roasted malt, raisin, licorice, biscuit, herbal, coffee, and slight smoke. Slight roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, caramel, roasted malt, coffee, biscuit, licorice, and raisin on the finish for a good bit. Very nicely balanced flavors, with a nice big malt backbone that is not cloying. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied; with a very nice creamy and slightly slick mouthfeel. No alcohol noticed at all as expected. Overall this is a very nice and pleasant porter. Nicely balanced and robust flavor profile; and very smooth. Really enjoyable stuff.

50 cl bottle @ home, brewed 18 Dec. 2009, enjoyed 22 April 2012. Very dark, almost black color. Head is almost brown, mocha colored, huge, with some retention. Aroma’s: dark malts, roast, coffee-ish, some chocolate, some berries (red fruit), a hint of toffee, not at all old. Flavor is medium sweet, roasted, slightly salty. Body is medium. Finishes with roast, slightly salty. After drinking half of this bottle, then sealing it and drinking the rest the next day, the beer had become much more chocolaty, in both aroma and flavor (and less fruity). Just lovely!
