We built our first brewhouse using recycled dairy equipment. We had to test our handywork, so we loaded it up with a heavy, dark Stout. That first batch was a 13-hour labor of love, and when we sipped the first bottle, we knew we had a keeper. With a nod to the West Coast, we balance Stout’s deep, roasted malt flavors with earthy, whole-cone hops.
Creamy, malty, and full-bodied, the Sierra Nevada Stout is satisfyingly rich. Caramel and Black malts give the Stout its deep, dark color and pronounced roasted flavor.

Tolles Programm.

Pours pitch black, topped with solid, creamy beige head. Mild malty nose, slight chocolate and nothing else. Mild sweetness, chocolate, medium bitterness and a bit metallic finish. Not the best one, to be honest.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark ruby red color with a tight beige head and great retention. Very good lacing. Roasted malt aroma. Dark roasted malt flavor too with just a hint of hops. Very smooth. Creamy mouthfeel. Very easy drinking. Very little bitterness for 50 IBU. Thick enough body, but not heavy.

This doesn't do anything spectacular, it's simply a really good example of a fairly straightforward stout. Looks the business, coffee, a bit of dark chocolate, some toasty malt and a decent richness to it.

Pours Black with an extremely thick cream head. Little aroma, roasted elements. Tastes like toasted malt, nuts. Palate includes chocolate, caramels and dark notes. Light and with just a smattering of hops. Dry mouthfeel. Seems like a typical stout.

Pours from 12oz bottle(with twist off cap) a near pitch black with some reddish hues and a good 2 finger head of foam that loses some substance during the seesion but by the time my glass is almost empty, there's still a solid layer with plenty of lacing.
The smell is sweetish. I get a lot of caramel and roasted malt and it's nice.
The taste has some sweet malt initially but more flavours come into play. Roasted malt follows with a very small hot chocolate presence...well, it's not so small after all as it's giving a good bitter kick to this stout about midway through and it dominates the finish very nicely but that sweet malty goodness lasts right through from the start to the finish. Man, it's hitting my taste buds on all cylinders and I'm really enjoying sipping on this excellent version of an American Stout and..the lowish abv helps make it a very drinkable brew. As far as I'm concerned, this is a classic American Stout and if you've overlooked this one before, give it a shot and I don't think you'll regret it. Highly recommended!

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours seeming brown but is darkly ruddy under strong light. Tan head. Aroma of dark malt, coffee and chocolate. Med body. It's not all that dry, but there's bitter earthy chocolate to help with that. Arguably earthy hop to go with that. Chocolate is sort of bitter/sweet. Tasty stuff.
