This Japanese Classic Ale is a recreation of the first Japanese beer made in the Edo period. Please enjoy the Japanese taste, matured in cedar barrels like the old IPA style method from England. bottle-conditioned IPA. Chinook, Fuggles, and Kent Goldings hops are used.

Tap. Pours hazy orange with a large off-white head and nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is woody, cedar yes, oranges, pine, caramel, lime zest. Flavor is similar, medium sweet, light bitter, cedar for sure, zesty, oranges with a lingering bitter finish. Fullish body for style actually, creamy mouthfeel.

Bottle: Poured a copper color with white fluffy head. Metal hops aroma was strong. Taste is bitter hops, sweet balancing caramel malt. Light cedar wood presence in the dry finish.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a mostly clear copper color with a medium white head. A light cedar nose with perfume and pine. Mellow, earthy, very woody, some pine and berries, almost no bitterness. Oranges, toasted malt. Pretty nice.

7% a clear copper color, thin head off-white head. Clean malty nose, smooth medium body. The taste is malty balanced, no alcohol booziness at all. Simple but smooth.

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks avrashi. 7%. Cloudy orange. Aroma of wood, stale hops, fruitiness and spicy hints. Flavor of malt, stale hops, some wood, some fruitiness and a bitter finish. Medium-bodied. Past its prime.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a hazy medium amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is rich malty and win some toffee apple caramel. The flavour is medium bitter with a rich, liqourice bitter alcoholic toffee malt palate.
