Wrapped in a red cloak, this aromatic and complex beer reveals a scent of spice, orange and malt, followed by caramelized notes and a finish as hot as dying embers.

It evokes the Quebec legend of La Chasse-galerie – or flying canoe – which tells the tale of men who would risk anything for a night of fun, even making a pact with the devil.

341 ml bottle poured in to a Trappist glass. Dark amber colour with a thick lasting cap on top. Sweet aroma with caramel malts, over ripe fruits, red berries, spiced yeasty notes and herbal hops. Taste is sweet. Medium to full body with a lively carbonation. Drying, rich fruity finish with yeasts and caramel malts. Lovely Dubbel.

Adding in my 300 Beers To Try ticks because I want to see how they impact my stats and some of them I will never see again. Will however re-rate them when practical. Ordered from France.

Bottle. A- Cheese, coriander, pepper, slightly floral. A- Brown color, dark liquid, beige head. T- White pepper, raisins, coriander. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, spiced finish. O- A year past the best by date so no idea how this should compare but not bad. Very heavily spiced with seemingly coriander and something else I can't quite place at the moment. Decent.

OMT Advent Day 8. 8-8,9% ABV. Another at least 15 year old Unibroue. This time, while sporting a ton of sherry oxidation character, it’s actually quite drinkable.

Bought in Brouwerij De Schans. Orange color, cloudy. Fresh malt and orange aroma. Sweetish flavor with orange, malt and a hint of sourness. Peach and a hint of licorice. Some alcohol. Lovely fruity flavor. Easy to drink, but the alcohol is everpresent. Good beer, easily to be confused with one of the better Belgian strong ales.

Bb09-08-20,light and sweet malty. Coppery. Where's the Belgian esters! I love tres pistoles and the fin du monde but guess this ones the lowest tier of unibroue maybe.
